I don't rewatch entire seasons of any shows, and Discovery is no exception. I might for two episodes, but that's about it. TOS and TNG are the only Trek series that I will rewatch, but that's only because they're on H&I and I'll put them on if I'm bored.

I liked the episode, but it's a sad commentary on the ugliness of Discovery's first season that even the most "fun" episode involved this.

Well, in total fairness, you give a shit enough to come in and give negative opinions on a show that disappoints you, and to respond when people call you out for being negative and unconstructive..so....yeah...

So far i've only watched the series twice, when all the episodes was released and a 2nd time later.

So i've only watched most episodes twice, tho i have watched the mudd episode about 4 times now and like it the most.

I don't give a shit about the post I quoted. The show could get better in Season 2. The post will remain worthless.

I watched twice, once as it aired, and then after it was completed, knowing what the twists were.
I kinda hold it in no different place than the other shows. Will re-watch all of it every year, like I do all the other series.

    No difference to me.

I do like that the response to the poll has been overwhelmingly positive.

I'm really amazed at how rewatchable people think this series is given the horrible writing and acting (with the exception of a few talents like Michelle Yeoh, and Jason Isaccs), half the Discovery crew are literally extras, the big surprises like Lorca, and Vok you could see coming a mile away. With lots of other good sci-fi out there like Westworld and The Expanse, I wonder why the choice to rewatch STD?

I'm going to guess they disagree with your assessments.

Most of the crew of any Trek ship are extras. So that's an odd complaint. The main characters: Burnham, Tilly, Lorca, Stamets, Saru, Tyler and L'Rell all got a good portion of screen time.

    Annnnndd the other shoe drops!

So, as suspected (particularly given the way you set the response options up), this was a poll designed to make you feel better about not liking the show, and that plan backfired showing once again that the naysayers are largely a minority and most people don't share your opinion?

I was just curious about other people's experience with the rewatchability of this series, I admitted mine at the outset. I wasn't hiding that I didn't find it very rewatchable, compared with other Trek series. Of course the rewatchability of other Trek is mostly episodic due to the episodic nature of those series and varying rewatchability of episodes. Maybe the serialized nature of this series lends itself to being more rewatchable as a full season.

No matter where you go, there you are.
It's Trek that manages to be genuinely interesting, attractive and exciting and does new things that make it competitive in an era where there are vast amounts of competing, and compelling, sci-fi. I tend to find suspect the taste of people who go on about "its horrible writing and acting" and I see no conflict in being willing to rewatch it while also being fond of The Expanse or The Orville or Black Mirror or any number of other things.

It's kind of hard for me to say because I rewatch it all and basically am constantly having Trek marathons were I go through it all though I of course don't watch something every day and I watch other stuff as well. But in reality the whole Trek experience is kind of like a a circular loop that never really stops but sometimes you add something new into the mix.
What is interesting from my perspective is just how many other shows other than Trek that I also tend to have these circular loops with. Lost and the Stargate shows and Babylon 5 and Buffy,Angel,Firefly and Farscape and Battlestar Galaticia always seem to be up their. I would also maybe add Fringe,Seinfeld,The Office as well. Basically you got to be a older Sci-FI show I grew up with or a comedy to make the list even though I know you have shows that might be better in general like Sopranos,Breaking Bad etc around as well. I do tend to re-watch alot of stuff though from the 90's and early 2000's were as even though I like new stuff as well it's kind of hard to watch it over and over again.

Interesting to read. I took the risk of looking at this thread as I am in the midst of watching Discovery for the first time on Blu-Ray (and am avoiding spoilers). I noted my feelings thus far on my "First Impressions" thread so I won't belabor my thoughts here (though I'll periodically add thoughts there as I go further into the series).

It seems to me thus far Discovery is much like the Abramsverse movies in fan reaction. There are those out there that think Discovery is the best Star Trek show since the original series (or maybe TNG), and those that think it's an embarrassment to the franchise. I'm not far enough in to make any judgments on rewatchability thus far. I will say overall, I've watched every Star Trek series and movie that's come out multiple times. I've just finished Enterprise a few weeks ago for my 3rd go around (which timeline wise worked out great with getting Discovery for Christmas....once I finish season 1 I'll move on to the original series for about the 437th time.

I have some concerns about Discovery at the early stage I'm at but hopefully it'll be the next show I watch over and over again. I'm keeping an open mind as I remember great Star Trek shows like TNG and DS9 actually took until at least the 2nd season to really catch on. So I'm hopeful.

I'm also looking forward to finally watching Season One on my actual TV instead of my laptop.

And, yes, I know that there are ways to stream stuff like CBS All Access onto regular TVs, but I'm an old technophobe who is always way behind the curve on this kinda thing. :)

It says something about STAR TREK that it took DISCO for me to finally go to the trouble of figuring out how to sign up for some kind of new-fangled streaming service in the first place!
