Not just mirrored, then one would still point up...

If it was mirrored down the centre, either both would be up, or be down depending on what side they mirrored.

Ah we have a different idea of "mirrored" ;)

    Helios Class hm

Also the text on that preview page does confirm they were inspired by the Franz Joseph TOS tug.

I wish Eaglemoss could make the Kelvin universe ships so that we could get class names for them as well. Oh, well.

Agreed. I never liked any version of the Kelvinprise, but I REALLY liked the other ships they had in their fleet and wish we had gotten more of them.

Unfortunately, IIRC, Eagalemoss was contracted to make the Abramsverse models ONLY in the larger scale, making them cost prohibitive to produce, which is why we only got "hero" ships in that part of the collection. Hopefully, now in the post-merger world, that agreement can be revised to do a special series of smaller-scale reproductions of the background ships, although I fear it unlikely.

What I'm looking forward to is the booklets and their reproductions of the actual CGI. The market is already inundated with beautiful CGI takes on the Kelvin ships - but those are guesstimates, not the real deal, and what I would love to see is how much detail tweaking was done there, in addition to the cut-and-pasting of major components. Do all the ships have their phaser and plasma gun turrets in the same places? Are the bridges really repeats of each other? Did they do scale-appropriate adjustments when they turned the big two-nacelled ship behind the E-A into the tiny four-nacelled Yorktow police drones? Etc.

I used to dislike a lot of the Kelvin Timeline starships but they look a lot more TOS in design and lineage than almost any of the ones on DSC. They've warmed on me.

Yeah, as far as I can tell, only their “Excelsior” had that red paint job and it was pretty much just a repaint of that Armstrong-type. Did the Excelsior actually ever appear on-screen? I don’t recall ever seeing any red-hued Starfleet vessels in the fleet back in 2009.

Yes, it was in STID for a split second, although you couldn’t see the name or registry. It’s just assumed that it’s the Excelsior based on that artwork. I prefer to think that it’s the Excelsior mentioned in the cut scene in TWOK that Sulu was going to command.

3 nacelles are weird already, but 2 engineering hulls and 2 main deflectors look really odd XD

These ships are works of beauty compared to some that are in the Battle of the Binary Stars. ;)

I'll defend the Shepard-class to my last breath, but yeah. Some of those are just hideous.
