Absolutely agree. Factor in this prolonged tease for the Spock character and they are risking ruin. The "breadcrumbs" help manage expectations. Constant teasing without anything else only raises expectation to the point where they write themselves into a Kobayashi Maru scenario.

If it is too subtle then they didn't do it right. Like saying they left a trail too faint to be noticed … If no one can see the trail then it ain't a trail.

They were in Kobayashi Maru territory the moment they decided to use Spock.

Does Pike even remember that he's supposed to be investigating the red bursts? He's on a search for Spock now.

Because Spock knew about them before they even appeared, he is connected to the Angels.

I hope nobody figures out the Red Angels until the season finale is shown. Internet dudes already ruined the Voq/tyler and MU Lorca twists, I hope they fail to ruin this one.

Btw, I still expect they will find something about Red Angels in the info dump from the sphere.

Pike was listening to the info dump regarding the Roquarri Imperium briefly in that episode. So, if, and that's a big if, the Roquarri are ever mentioned again, then they are the Red Angels.

Just so they can claim they were dropping hints early on, even if there is nothing connecting the Roquarri to the Red Angels in the mention.

Then again, the Roquarri sounds kind of like "rock quarry", so maybe that'd be a poor name for an alien species or group.

There's no point in expecting the writers to "get it right", because for one segment of the audience the hints will always be too blatant and for another too subtle.

But there's progress, certainly. From a sample of one, we learn nothing; from the current sample of two, we get a pattern. The signal appears just in time to draw USS Discovery specifically to observe and then negate a calamity about to befall on humans; it may also be that the Discovery herself creates the calamity by arriving (bumping the asteroid into the pulsar, disrupting the radioactive rings). And the ship can do squat until a signal appears (apparently, and logically, just blindly jumping to the approximate location where a signal first appeared back when all seven lit up at once would do no good, as the heroes could never hope to hit the exact spot, and in any case the Red Things aren't there most of the time), so all the investigating now is dependent on finding Spock.

Is the so far nameless episode 7 the next Red One? Quite probably. Will we get seven episodes for seven Red Things? At the rate we're going, perhaps, just barely. Will the season finale be Red? No doubt.

Are the Ba'ul a factor in this? Probably not. Is the sphere and its last will and testament? Probably not. Are the JahSepp? Probably not. The season is entitled to standalone plots in addition to the Red Story, as long as they somehow manage to slip in the obligatory reference to Faith vs. Whatever.

Maybe the writers simply took the critique about Lorca being from the Mirror Universe being too obvious to heart...

Liam has a very particular set of skills. Sadly, finding a Half-Vulcan somewhere in the Alpha Quadrant is not one of them.

Michael Burnham is the Dawn/Key/Buffy's sister of the Star Trek franchise. Reality itself has warped around her, hence all the differences and continuity errors.

She's a renegade Red Angel who chose to hide as a human, used her powers to insert herself into Spock's backstory, and then wiped her own memories.

SMG being Submachine gun in this case. Just in case anyone didn't get why I was posting a picture of a gun...

Well... her onscreen character Michael Burnham does give a lot of exposition... from time to time...

    ;) [wink!]
