Wow, I don't know when exactly they declassified this but this is the first i've read this. Many people always speculated that the DC Metro system was prmarily funded not because of the cities need for public transportation - which it did - but as a transport system for the President in the case of a nuclear attack.

It's far more extensive than I could have imagined. Since the system reaches Camp David - why would the president need to take a helicopter to Camp Daivd?

For once the conspiracy theorists were right.

And wow, they plan to make the train go underground all the way to Pennsylvania.

This train system must have been insanly expensive to build and likely stays idle most of the time.

I guess with affordable private drones in the air, Marine One becomes an easy target.

It's far more extensive than I would have ever imagined. And WTF is in Penn. that they need t private tunnel from the White House all the way there that likely will never be used at all?

It probably doesn't yet connect up to Camp David, or the President wouldn't still be taking a helicopter there. During WW-II London built and impressive underground tunnel system to serve as a refuge and transport system for their government, and Eisenhower's allied military headquarters was in part of it, located deep underground. I'd guess that's what gave him the idea to initiate such a project in DC.

BTW, the map lists the CIA and NSA, but has three sites just labeled as "classified". Those are probably golf courses.

Oh, nevermind. That's not Whitehouse.gov, it's a parody site, and a pretty funny one.
