There are some TNG episodes that I never watch anymore, either because I have seen them so many times that I never have to watch them again or because I never really liked the episode to begin with. However, recently I have decided to revisit some of these to see if my opinion of them has changed. When Who Watches The Watchers popped up on the DVR, I decide to give it a watch instead of deleting it. I was pleasantly surprised. Never cared for it much at the time but it's better than I remember. Some things bother me about it, such as the fact that Picard once again becomes the gatekeeper of Prime Directive adherence while others (the scientist) basically say, screw that shit and rescue my friend anyway. It amazes me how all Starfleet personnel were required to take the PD oath and how many are so quick to want to abandon it in a moment of emotional loss of control. Crusher was particularly guilty of that and even Pulaski once or twice. I also find it odd that a culture that admits that it has left such superstitions and beliefs behind long ago and become a more rational and logical species is so quick and willing to embrace them once again.

Sisko was right to refuse whatever food she proposed. Vortas are immune to most poisons.

TNG - Chain of Command, and DS9 - Emissary.

Chain of Command was the last episode before DS9 started, so now I'm alternating their episodes during my big rewatch of all Star Trek.

The leap down to standard definition for DS9 is painful, but it is offset by a brilliant pilot episode.

This was a beautifully filmed episode. Kirk looking around the empty bridge of an empty Enterprise is one of the saddest moments in all of Trek for me. Shatner steals the episode from that point on, up through the transporter room fight with Spock.
