Only Game Of Thrones comes anywhere close.

EDIT: GOT has now surpassed TWD in total viewership. The GOT finale was watched by 12.07 million, which isn't even close to TWD's peak, but way more than TWD season 8.

    What are comparable shows?

I, Zombie peaked at 2.29 million
    Z Nation at 1.62

    If we branch out
    The Orville 8.56 million

Most popular Arrowverse show is the Flash, peaked at 4.83

It's possible that we are living in the age of the two most popular genre shows in decades - TWD and GOT. Most popular genre shows in cable history for sure.

EDIT: Supergirl probably had a chance to take the crown, being that it aired on CBS. However the show wasn't well received, so the 12.93 million it got for the premiere will remain it's series peak.

Just watched the final episodes of the season...and was underwhelmed to say the least. Everyone survives just by drinking a few beers after many hours of ant-freeze poisoning? And then we are going to get a set up straight out of a seventies actions series? Of course we're not, but this second half of the season was a big let down after the show had a great first half to the season.

Eh, I imagine the ZA went differently in different parts of the country and the world. It's not hard to imagine unlikely survivors cropping up here and there, especially with the intervention of artistic license.

The purpose would depend on what was written, and it may or may not be the right move, but if there's no body then there's always the chance of a return.

Well, AMC has said that they plan to expand the WD Universe to streaming-only shows and feature films. They want it to be like Star Trek and Star Wars. So maybe we'll even get a cartoon. :rommie:

The one thing I've really wanted to see ever since Dawn of the Dead came out is an anthology series showing people coping with the ZA all over the world. They could still do that.

    Walking Dead: Rickxit. :rommie:

 The more I think about it the more it makes sense! AMC can co-produce with the BBC, hell maybe even make them pay for most of the production costs, air it over here after having paid practically nothing and watch the cash roll in!

^^ It's a completely different show now, but I liked it both ways. It had to change. You can only show the beginning of the ZA for so long.

Kind of like that Giles series that they were going to do for Anthony Steward Head, which unfortunately never happened. Of course, they'd have to come up with some reason for Rick to travel from Virginia to England, unless he was Shanghaied or something.

That's a strong comment on the interest of TV/fantasy audiences in general; it seems despite some (many who do not even watch the shows, but complain in any case) going on and on about how "bleak" and/or "violent" the shows are (some rail against the imagined "political tone" of GOT &TWD), they maintain the far and away lion's share of interest of TV/fantasy viewers. Nothing else comes close, including superhero series which should have more of built-in audience (made up of members from generations of fans familiar with the characters/situations), but are not.

But a pilot is not indicative of its regular performance (which is what is considered with GOT & TWD), so outside of pilot curiosity, the drop in ratings is the standard for the series, and its quite low in the ratings comparison.

So far, whether in Los Angeles, Mexico , Texas, Atlanta or Virginia, the dangers of the ZA seem to follow a pattern of growth and lethal effects, so for a guy who admitted not knowing how to deal with walkers, he should have been killed by now.

I sort of think the only way for Alicia to become a stronger character is to know--beyond the shadow of a doubt--that her mother is dead. Not that she should have any suspicion of / awareness of Madison being alive somewhere, but instead, her acknowledging she's the last of her family line is a sobering thought and forces anyone else to step up, take all she's learned and carry on as her mother would have.

Eh, it's a big world and we don't know his whole story, and there's always going to be outliers. It's just not a big deal to me.

All true, but what it will come down to is whether they think it will help ratings and whether the actor is available. There's got to be a reason that they didn't show the body on a show that is not shy about showing bodies.

Interesting. IIRC, I'm not sure him and Morgan had much if any interaction on Walking Dead, so it'll be odd seeing them together in a scene.

I hated Dwight in TWD so this seems par for the course. I like how originally there was never going to be a crossover, that it would be just TOO crazy! Now they're bringing over Dwight of all people? lol

America is a big place, and to have 2 separate people from the Alexandria area meet up in Texas seems like a bit of a stretch. Unless Dwight somehow followed Morgan out there, but I doubt it.

For me what is worse is the TWD time jump...so even if Morgan makes it back it will be very temporary.

So anything in the Fear side is largely irrelevant

The next big reveal in TWD will be that Morgan is already back, lol.
