BBS Announcements

• We have a new administrator at the BBS! As of today, DEAverification is one of the three admins at the BBS, together with me and Dr. Jekyl. He now has the power to ban members if they violated the BBS policy, and is able to move off-topic posts in all forums. In addition, he is now also one of the three people to officially participate in the decision-making process for selecting new moderators.
  
  When looking for a new admin, DEA quickly was the one major candidate for the job, due to his obvious large commitment to the BBS. The Members Top 50 shows him to be the member with the largest post count, and he is singlehandedly moderating two of the more important forums at the BBS. I'm sure he'll be able to do a great job as admin!
  
  Thanks should also go out to The Lone Ensign, who was admin at the BBS for nearly a year, and who, I think we all agree on this, was very important in shaping the BBS into what is now.
  
• After being off-line since the server move in January, the Top 50 has finally returned! On this page you'll find a ranking of the most active posters at the BBS. The reason for it not functioning was unfortunately a mistake on my side - the memberlist was listing one member which didn't exist anymore, namely the admin user name used when setting up the BBS, and the Top 50 script wasn't able to handle this. It's returned now, and will be updated once everyday.
  
• A final version of the BBS policy will be posted tomorrow, after which this news item will also be posted at TrekToday.

Well, all I can say is thank you.

This BBS has been my home for over a year now. I have made many friends here and gladly take the job. The Trek BBS is more than a group of people who like and enjoy Star Trek. It's become a community of different ideals from people that span the globe! A place we can all learn about each other, and enjoy our favorite topic, which undoubtedly is Star Trek. This place has grown a lot since I began posting here. That is not a bad thing at all, it certainly is continuing the basis of its creation. Growth!

This place has grown out of it's egg as I've seen since the first post. This is IMO grown into the best BBS on the internet.

As a Moderator for 9 months, I have posted beside everyone here as a member. I certainly hope that will not change. I've always been a member of this BBS and hope being an Admin will not change that.

Now, enough of the sentimental crap... Let's go do something fun!

 

How long does someone remain an admin? Is there like a year term, or just until they decide not to do it anymore?
