The last trademarked series from Star Trek I own is the seventh season of Deep Space Nine. AOL was huge, we had just gotten our first home computer with internet access, the world had never heard of streaming or Youtube. Michael Jordan won his sixth title, Bill Clinton avoided removal after Impeachment, and, of course, the epic hype of The Phantom Menace.

Today, I purchased the first season of Star Trek: Discovery. 2017-18. 19 years between series purchases. Digital format, of course.

    Thank you to all involved.

The DVD’s for DS9 wouldn’t have come out until the early/mid-2000’s.

He didn't mention DVDs or when he bought DS9, He was talking about when the show aired and the differences between now and then.

I’m not sure what you mean. Are you saying that nothing else has been worth buying until DSC, in which case I’d have to counter with all the films, TAS, TNG and TOS on Blu-ray? Or is it merely that DSC is otherwise available on All Access, whereas you can use other services to stream TAS, TNG and TOS in HD (with or without -R), as well as the movies and the other shows?

I interpreted it to mean he didn't care for Voy, ENT or the JJ movies. I wouldn't think what was re-released in higher quality would make a difference. I would guess that he took a break from Trek for awhile, maybe rewatching TOS, TNG and DS9 on lower quality dvds or tapes, but never messed with anything newer or inbetween, for whatever reason.

    Just my guess.

I said television--not a fan of Voyager or Enterprise. I said trademarked or copyrighted in 1998-99. I own all the TNG Movies, Star Trek I and II, and the first three series. I even own all three Re-Boot movies.

These were purchased from 2012-2019, on DVD and some digital copies. But, as far as new television, I own the first three series, and the Discovery.

In that case you seem to have missed out on TAS, TOS and especially TNG in HD (a mindblowing improvement due to remastered video), unless you can stream those and don’t mind TOS-R if that’s the only version available.

I think in 1998 I was still getting my Trek fix via the local video store's crappy worn-out VHS tapes.

I actually attended screenings, through Fandango, of the episodes in movie theaters. Datalore and Where No One Has Gone Before, The Measure of a Man, Q Who?, and The Best of Both Worlds all were screened. Including special features (there's a moving cartoon in the bridge of the Enterprise as they ship warps at the end of the song, Patrick Stewart yelling "You ruined our summer!" recounting fan reactions to "Mr. Worf, fire!" And bloopers all for 12-15 dollars a pop). The second season was my favorite. I had already seen BOBW too many times.

But to see "metaphysics" in the ruling after Picard's cross of Maddox (like a Socratic seminar on Sentience!), the extended cut including the Admiral touring the ship before Maddox demands Data's transfer, the scene with Data and Picard in the Ready Room, and see the exploration of the Borg, Q's prophetic words, and "wonderous, satiate, subtle and gross," on the big screen! You don't find quality writing like that in many movie houses like that, these days! That was fun!"

I've had Netflix and Prime, so yes, I have seen the live-action series in stunning HD. I wish they'd do it for DS9!

If you have a larger TV, the Blu-rays are stunning, even when watching with the original effects.
