    Some Observations About This Thread...

#1 -- White people have entirely too much free time.

#2 -- Sussman never replied to Mr Cogley's main point ... that there was no good reason for "Regeneration" since it wasn't a great Borg epiode and it didn't answer any lingering questions about the Borg.

#3 -- If Sussman felt the need to reply to an on-line review then it tells me that he doesn't really think the episode speaks for itself.... especially when he's giving us stuff that was cut from the final script.

some comments, without trying to start an argument...

guilty as charged.... but a question...are you white as well??

sam doesn't seem to care... have ya read his responses yet?? most folks here have a sense of humor....

have ya ever seen a documentary or watched a show with audio commentary?? that's doing the same thing (as far as telling what got cut and explaining some things for those who didn't understand it)

Excuse me, what does a persons skin color have to do with anything unless you are trying to turn the topic into a racial thing?

    Hey, I'm Irish! :D

And no one has refuted my review which is critical (Gave it a D-) nor has anyone effectively refuted my points, on this board (Gorn thinks so... he's wrong of course). Anyho... just sayin'... :D

Hail to the King baby... ;)

Yes, it does. We were talking about common sense and Borg have never been good at using common sense. If I have to make a list of Trek aliens with common sense, Borg will not be high on the list. It's their lack of common sense that lets them get defeated repeatedly by the lowly humans.

There are no "facts" here, that's why we have 100 threads debating them. Some people think there are plot holes (that doesn't make it a fact) and continuity errors while others don't.

It's self evident to me and many others. But obviously some people need things explained to them. And the explanation I referred you to was not nonsense. You may thinks so, but that's just your opinion.

I have always thought this as well. The Borg have ZERO COMMON SENSE. They are so powerful, with such incredible technology, but they are also the dumbest aliens around.

Let's look at how retarded the Borg are:

1.They can survive in the vaccuum of space, yet they provide a comfortable atmoshpere, temperature, and gravity on their ships so Starfleet personnel can beam aboard and start poking around.

2.They never give a rats ass about intruders until it's too late.

3.The Borg never, ever post a sentury or guard around any of their activities. Picard, Worf and Lt. Hawk are able to fuck around with the deflector dish in First Contact and none of the Borg give a damn about them until it's too late. A good military organization always has gaurds or lookouts around.

4.The Borg are easily beaten by knives, clubs, and the butts of rifles. Or better yet, a single human of average strength can defeat a Drone by just yanking one of their neck cords out.

    5. Those cybernetic implants are supposed to improve them, but all it does is turn them into slow and clunky villains. A typical human of average health could outrun a Borg drone on foot.

    6. They always send one cube to take over the Federation and Earth. Always one cube. Christ all they need to do is send about 4 or 5 cubes and it would be over in a heartbeat.

    7. They are easily beaten by anyone named Janeway and small science ships named Voyager.

There are many, many more examples....like the time traveling until it's too late crap from First Contact...

The bottom line is that the Borg are an utterly stupid race of aliens.

It's amazing to me the number of people who still show they really need to get something that even remotely resembles a life after this gentleman took the time to respond to nothing more than bitter, twisted posts by people who wouldn't give the show a fair shake if their life depended on it.

Was he supposed to say "You know what? I had no reason to write this episode and I will attempt to correct my unoriginality in my future endeavors."?

Rick Berman doesn't give a rat's ass about anyone on this board, but when Sussman takes his time to talk to us, he's told that he's desperate and isn't proud of his work. Hmm.

Damned it you do, damned if you don't.

How do you know Berman doesnt come on here and either look or even talk with us??

Who knows, Berman can be any one of us. This is the biggest Trek BBS on the internet.

Im sure Braga and Berman are here or at least looking.

    Well... here I go.

When I watched "The Next Generation", and I saw "Q, Who?" for the first time, I really thought the Borg had potential. They had potential to end up being one of the coolest species introduced in Trek lore.

For the duration of TNG, they were. They were creepy. They were different. They actually looked UNBEATABLE. That was the key with the Borg - by having that invincibility, they became scary. Scary is cool. I guess that's why people used to like the Borg so much.

Then Star Trek: Voyager came along, and I think that's pretty self-evident with regards to what that series did to the Borg.

I wouldn't be surprised if a few writers at one point came up with the genius idea of having Janeway open the window in her quarters when a Borg Cube was attacking, and have her fire a handheld phaser at the ship. Being Star Trek: Voyager, the Cube would be instantly destroyed, yet somehow render the warp engines on Voyager useless.

I suppose that's one of the numerous reasons why I felt Star Trek: Voyager to be considered one of the low points of Star Trek history.

Then Enterprise comes along, and shows such great potential. The potential to be something really different, something that could make the inner fanboys laugh and smile, much like the ending in X2: X-Men United did.

Boy, was I wrong. Not only was I wrong, but Trek fans were wrong. All of us. We actually spent our time anticipating this show.

Regeneration did NOTHING to help this wasted cause.

Like it's been mentioned before, Enterprise did not need this episode. Star Trek did not need this episode. I did not find this entertaining at all - I thought it was Paramount's money (I'm trying to avoid the term "Hard-Earned money") being put to waste.

You can show me a hundred little tidbits about how little snippets of the story were taken out, or how thought out this episode was, and I credit you for that, MikeSussman. You are willing to do what the Star Trek: Voyager writers could not - actually think things through.

Unfortunately, I cannot give acclaim to your general ideas as a writer and as a Star Trek fan.

Imagine this: Joel Schumacher decides to hold an interview with a movie website, let's say, CHUD. The plans are for him to talk about "Batman & Robin". He spends 10 pages of text explaining about how thought out his story was, and how plastic nipples were actually part of the Batman lore. Having him say those things would not help me appreciate the quality of the film though - It's still a bad film! Not only bad, but I consider it to be one of the worst. Having him explain the philosophy behind the film does not help matters at all.

My issues with Regeneration, and Enterprise in general, is not about the canon of the details, or the little tidbits that were taken out of the final script.

I'm talking about the lack of solid, GOOD Star Trek stories.

I remember a day when Star Trek used to be able to make you think about real-life issues happening in the current day. Right now, it seems to me that those days have been left behind, and instead we're left with episodes like Regeneration, which just make you wonder about how many more people are going to stop watching Enterprise after every episode.

I frequent another message board, and I inquired about their opinions about the episode. I would consider them a very grounded group, people who like to keep their expectations grounded. They were not impressed by this episode at all.

Again, I applaud you MikeSussman for actually spending the time to address our concerns. In fact, you wrote my favorite Enterprise episode to date with Future Tense. It's just that talking about our proposed continuity errors is not going to change the fact of the matter that the general idea behind this episode was lacklustre.

I understand you were addressing Samuel T. Cogley's initial review, and you were probably giving your above comments with good intentions. But like someone else mentioned above (I apologise but I can't seem to remember who), it seems you're the kind of person who says "Well I love you too" when they received an intentional and blatant insult. Maybe it's just me, but I have this nagging feeling that people really aren't listening to us at all - just putting on a pretty face for the angered Trek base.

You may flame me if you want, but that's just how I'm perceiving things. This was not meant as an insult, by the way.

Interesting read, though, that first post... ;)

    Berman is probably a gusher
    Brannon Prolly a Basher
and Ron Moore is prolly the guy who starts all the "B&B should be sacked" threads
