Anyone else think the main character's speech is a bit stilted? Is it because she was raised as a Vulcan or am I the only one thinking this?
Sonequa Martin-Green has stated in numerous interviews that Burnham was raised on Vulcan, and it very much has impacted her social skills.
I think it's hilarious that anyone who has seen and enjoyed an episode of Star Trek, particularly from TNG on, would criticize acting in the franchise as "stilted" as if this is something new and unacceptable.
Stewart got better. I'd say most of the others did not. At least not considerably. 90s Trek is filled with overly-formalized behavior and acting. It's like it's own style. It doesn't really bother me, but for people to criticize Trek now for this is pretty laughable.
Sonequa? Michelle sounds really stilted to me, but I think that pausing ..as you... say something.. ..and then saying it faster, is a Trek thing.
