I just finished my latest project for my Motion Graphics class. The assignment was to make up a TV show and then create an opening credits sequence. If we hadn't had to develop our own show idea, I sooo would have done Trek, but alas we had to be original. So, I just based mine on my new favorite book, Old Man's War by John Scalzi. After watching the finished project I find myself wishing it was a real show or a movie. I hope you guys feel the same! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QNc50Ttx10 Make sure you click "Watch in high quality" as YouTube's normal quality is, well, bad.
Awesome. OMW is the book that brought me back into LitSF after years of reading mainstream, ContempLit. Scalzi is the man. Currently, I am reading The Last Colony before I buy Zoe's Tale. OMW would make an excellent SF-TV series.
Most excellently done! Have you emailed it to Scalzi? He's out there. http://scalzi.com posted the link on his blog-hope you don't mind.
Wow, looks like Mr. Scalzi found it by himself! And check out the responses on the blog! Holy crap! http://scalzi.com/whatever/?p=1899
I'm a big fan of that series, but if I wasn't and I saw those credits for a TV Show, I'd watch. And I'd buy the book. Your sequence is just that good.
Ya did good, kid! Great responses, too. Have you ever seen the fan movies for Greg Bear's Eon? Those are pretty cool, too. BTW-he's got it on his bio page under The Blatherations of Others http://scalzi.com/whatever/?page_id=83#comment-59779
Here's my updated version of the titles, now with corrected inaccuracies (I had the main character's middle name and birthdate wrong -- oops) and added a little touch of color that readers of the book should appreciate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v59JiLft-oU
