I made this thread so we could have a place to discuss things we don't think require their own thread, I'll start with this

While Del Arco can't post a picture of him in the full Borg makeup yet, he did post a video of them creating cast of his upper body used to create the makeup.

The Disco makeup guys mentioned they'd love to reimagine the Borg - guess they got their chance (assuming it's the same team?)

I was reading some of what we know about the characters in PICARD and this one's description in particular is enlightening...

Elnor: A Romulan refugee who is an expert in hand-to-hand combat and is fiercely loyal to Picard.

I would surmise that the underlined parts above are confirmation that the destruction of Romulus from the 2009 Trek Movie and and Picard's part in an attempted (successful?) rescue, is very much a part of the story-line.
It seems that folks have been dancing all around this in the discussions around here.

I think it is about time to get some further infos on the show. Some new pictures, clips and artwork would be nice. Im really interested how the late 24th century ships are going to look like.

I still don’t think Picard’s mission is related to the Supernova, but the Borg. The Supernova happens after Picard retires, unless they’ve changed the date for the Nova.

According to Dayton Ward over in the Lit section, everything on the placards at the Picard museum came from the show’s story and scripts. Though some of that info has changed since it’s appearance at Vegas/Comic-Con, and some of the placards have been updated accordingly for their next appearance at Destination Star Trek in October.

Jonathan DelArco has posted a short video on twitter of getting the mold made for his Borg face mask. Like he mentioned in an interview It looks like it takes a long time to have one made.

It would have to be something BIG to get the melodrama as postulated in the teasers as Picard went through a lot in TNG without wincing too much. And furthering the Borg into Federation space/Alpha quadrant could be a stroke of genius.

It's possible it's been retconned or... arguably rather better, the Borg engineered the supernova to create a cascade effect to make this section of the galaxy easier to conquer... that would be more believable...

That depends how long we knew the supernova was immanent. It may well be a demise of Krypton-type deal (perhaps an allegory for our current climate crisis), and Picard's mission saved a bunch of willing Romulans possibly against the government's wishes.

Or perhaps he freed the Borg Collective, but I don't see how that fits "rescue armada" as well as the above.

If the things the internet says about this new series are true I'm losing interest in this new series before it begins.

Apparently Picard is saddened with what happened to Data in 'Nemesis'. What a horrible movie. Most likely I'll skip that movie for the next decades, maybe I'll watch it sometimes, just to remind me what a horrible abortion of a movie it is.

Romulus is destroyed in a reboot movie I'm not sure I've watched at all. Maybe I've seen it, I'm not sure. Those action Trek movies aren't my thing.

    There might be more?

Perhaps those things are explained in a way that it is possible to watch the new series without Nemesis and 2009 Trek film. If not... too bad.

I read somewhere that Picard is going to have a whole bunch Romulans working at the vinyard, I'm assuming they're all going to be refugees from the destruction of Romulus. If he did play a role in helping deal with the aftermath of the supernova that could explain how they ended up there.

? You expect them to ignore the last 2 movies that had some mention of things in the 24th century because YOU didn't like them?

I abhored Nemesis, and I am glad they are finally giving Picard a decent sendoff. Of course they have to follow those events. Data died saving Picard. It kind of makes sense that Picard would be messed up by that. Data was the only capable member of his species and Picard was his Captain. Picard couldn't kill the Borg with Hugh, he is the type of person that would be bothered by Data's death not just because he was a friend, but because of his uniqueness.

Likely as not, they will be explained just fine. Not every Star Trek fan has seen "The Cage" and yet that featured in Discovery without any issue.

I know the rumor around the Internet is these current showrunners are incompetent, but let's give them a little more credit than that.

    Heh ...
I call it more of a "stated fact" by a few disenfranchised fans.

I just wish I could be $25 million richer for being so incompetent.

Just because it builds on backstory from movies you don't like doesn't mean it'll be stylistically like them.

The trailer by itself explains Nemesis without anyone having to see it in a single line ("Almost 2 decades ago, Commander Data sacrificed his life for me...") and I'm sure Romulus blowing up will be explained similarly.

Like how you didn't need to watch "Best of Both Worlds" to understand the movie Star Trek: First Contact

The classic go-to that I'm sure applies to most of us who weren't around in the '60s or '70s: I saw TWOK before I saw "Space Seed" and understood it just fine. Khan gives a quick recap and it's pretty obvious this is someone who Kirk fought in the Old Days and now he wants Revenge. On with the story.

I'm pretty sure I will watch the Picard series, if it ever finds its way to Finland in some way. :)

Sorry, this is totally off-topic but after a quick search it looks like it's available.
