Maybe Roddenberry came up with the name itself? Or he was full of shit?

    According to Memory Alpha:
After Gene Coon conceived the Klingons, a name for the species did not immediately come to mind. He took inspiration from a name which came into earshot, that of Lieutenant Wilbur Clingan – a friend of Gene Roddenberry who served with him in the Los Angeles Police Department.

Perhaps he's busy hanging out with Roddenberry's other friend Kim Noonien Wang.
Names are important, of course. But putting a name onto somebody else's concept isn't the same as coming up with the whole concept itself.

Personally there are only two things I don't like about discovery: the klingon design is way too different from TNG DS9 and VOY, both the specie and the spaceships. And if we take ENT into account, TOS era klingons are canonically way more different too.

In season 2 they quite saved the day by restoring klingon hair, they looked more like the old ones we are accustomed to.

The other thing I don't like is spock beard. Where is my goatee of evil???? The most unforgivable missed chance of all trek history

I'll pick two favorites from each series, though not necessarily my very favorites, except Picard which is too new for all that (I've liked all of those so far, though).

    TOS -
    "The Doomsday Machine"
"Where No Man Has Gone Before"

    TAS -
    "Yesteryear"
"One of Our Planets Is Missing"

    TNG -
    "The Emissary"
    "Darmok"

    DS9 -
    "Far Beyond the Stars"
    "Trials and Tribble-ations"

    VOY -
    "The Omega Directive"
    "The Thaw"

    ENT -
    "Horizon"
    "Azati Prime"

    DISCO -
    "If Memory Serves"
"Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad"

DC Fontana apparantly says the Klingons were all GL Coon's. The staff even hated the name. "Klingon's? What's their home planet?" she said. "Kling," Coon laughed.

Although, the second season guests seems to say "Clingan" more often than not (Cyrano Jones and Eleen)

Now that you mention this, I mostly watch star trek dubbed in my language and there are several issues with that, because budget was very poor. Kirk is dubbed by 4 different people overall and Spock by 3, so their voices are not always the same.

Depending on the voice actor, the Enterprise sometimes is called Interprise or Enterprees. Spock sometimes is more like Spaak and sometimes is more like Spouck.

Klingons in the second season are called Klingonians for some reason, and even in DS9 tribble episodes they call them like that for some very strange reason since it's the only DS9 episode they do this.

There could be a nice post about it: what doctor would you choose to help you against covid19? My take would be doctor Bashir honestly!

Anyway italian coronavirus is a mutated version less aggressive than the chinese one: I guess it became lazy because it has inherited the italian attitude

Will all respect for the dead people, it's not really that serious issue as TV is showing fortunately.

I applaud your season one choices. Maybe replace Enemy Within with Charlie X.

    A haunting and bizarre episode.

Ha, not so haunting when nothing was happening!

I agree that Charlie X is really good. I just watched it yesterday and was really into it. Which is weird, because I didn't like it when I first saw it a few years ago.

I’ve only seen one episode of TOS, Arena. It was without a doubt, one of the funniest episodes of anything I’ve ever seen. I saw it years ago and still have a good laugh remembering it. It’s even funnier that Mythbusters did a bit on it.

I find as I get older, I appreciate episodes I didn't when I was a kid in the 70s. There are really only one or two that I can say I dislike but that doesn't keep me from re-watching them.

Maybe because I know my viewing window is narrowing and I am closing in on the "The Deadly Years."

I love Arena and it still haunts me from my first viewing of it! People today missed out on the TV of the seventies which scared the life out of us kids and it's a tad annoying when kids, even my son, tend to find the shows funny, amusing or rubbish as they state! :wah:

If it makes any difference, it’s not a desensitisation to monsters or violence that raises my amusement. It is the run of coincidence. The gun powder ingredients one by one, each with a speech on the riches of that particular compound is what I find funny. I love Shatner and his melodrama but it does anything but present a seriousness.

These views are all relative though, are they not? My Pearl Jam is my fathers Beatles.
