    Spock screamed Khannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

So I re-watched the film and I could not help but laugh when Spock screamed Khan.it was so darn funny.

I do not know, I guess I have changed my views from when I saw the film in cinema. I actually cringed when I saw spock scream khan in cinema because I felt embarrassment for Quinto but now that I watch the film at home, I find the part very funny and a little enduring. sometimes when something is bad and at the same time funny it becomes fun to watch.

Maybe people feel different but that screen overall is one of the worst moment in trek history for me personally, however it is Funny to watch and very enduring.

I would personally not have out it in the film but oh well what can we do:vulcan:

I laughed on seeing it the first time in the cinema. It was kind of surreal, as if the scene were being played for humour.

I can think of many more 'worst moments' in 'Star Trek history':
For example (in no particular order):
    1. Spock's Brain - zombie Spock
    2. Uhura's fan dance
    3. The 'boob' joke in INS
    4. The Kirk death scene in GEN
    5. The skant
    6. Beverley and Deanna throwing themselves at Picard and Riker in 'The Naked Now'
    7. Picard getting annoyed at Data for saving the human popsicles.
    8. The Salamander incident in VOY.
    ...
    255. Data being a human floatation device.

    And so on

I couldn't laugh, because it wasn't half as funny as the contrived "Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan" from TWOK. Having a genuine "Khaaaaaaaan" scream that is sincere, stems from a real emotion and makes sense is the biggest offence to canon I have ever witnessed. It's worse than when the Enterprise depicted Vulcans as a flawed society, instead of showing them as the always-superior and never wrong species who, like any superior species would, view fighting to the death as a legitimate way to get out of an arranged marriage and don't get baseball.

See this is the part that had me confused. If you step outside the film, I guess you can find it humorous but when you are in the film you are actually suppose to feel bad for Spock and him loosing his captain and friend but you just can't because we know Kirk will be back and more importantly we know it has be done before in a much superior film that is Wrath of khan and to top that up we know it was an homage to TOS Kirk. So you have all this information and that makes it hard to place one word to describe the scene....mixed feelings, I guess.

Quinto screaming Khan did not feel organic or has rage-ful as Shatner screaming khan.

I think Shatner having a deep bass voice makes the scream a lot more epic. we even here the jokes of how Shatner can make sounds in space. Shatner screaming Khan was basically the roar of a lion. Quinto screaming khan was just so cringe worthy and was so acted, he felt more like a lamb than a lion.

It is definitely one of the worst moment in trek for me.

What I find even more fascinating is that the real parody homage in the TV Sitcom Seinfeld was better than the homage in Into Darkness.

    This.

The only people who remember Shatner's scream are Star Trek fans and comedians who use it for material.

A lot of people were laughing when I saw STID in that double feature a night before it officially hit the theatres. I didn't ... I was just embarrassed.

Didn't laugh, didn't cringe, but I knew it was coming, since I didn't see it until last week.

It's not that Quinto's Spock gets a little high and nasal in the vocal range sometimes-- sort of like the outtake run-through from ST09 where he does a goofy voice-- but it creeps into STID occasionally.

The problem with the Spock scream is it beats you over the head that they just did an homage to the TWOK death scene, just to make sure you didn't miss it.

I cringed, as I had done since the "I am Khan" line.

During my first viewing I was, you know, engaged in watching the film. I, you know, was into the story, cared too much at the time to see what was going to happen next to allow myself to be distracted by the call back.

Now at the next screening I attended, a few weeks later, I, and others who'd apparently also already seen it, did have a laugh over the scene at how Spock's face appeared overtly screwed up in delivering the emotional yelp. I really no longer care one way or the other about the scene, I've moved on about that since then.

I re-watched Rise ot Planet ot Apes last night. Now there's some hilarious call backs.
"It's a madhouse, a madhouse!, Get your stinking paws off me you damned dirty ape! :)

I do tend to agree with those who found the scene felt a little like the movie-makers intended it not as a homage, but as a parody. The way it hits all of its beats, I don't know. Sometimes I think the JJ-movies are kind of doing a 'Galaxy Quest', in encouraging the audience to recognize all the familiar Star Trek tropes and be "in" on the joke, rather than simply telling their story.

I think I rolled my eyes. I loved that whole scene until that moment.

I just sat there stone-faced and went "Seriously?"

Immediately after that, I decided not to dwell on it any further and move on.

If that is the case, I find shameful and sad that the writers will treat trek like a paraody and not a serious scifi that it should be.

What's your definition of serious Sci-Fi? 2001, Blade Runner...?

I'm don't think Trek is "serious sci-fi." IMO it's fun action-adventure in space - and that's what TOS, the classic movies and these new ones deliver in spades.
