Yeah I would love to think somewhere along the line we can get a sun cruiser that could dive into a sun and study it from the inside.

 

Even in the 24th century, it still might be some centuries off for the Federation. After all, the Vissians invented warp drive about 1000 years before Archer's time, so they could have a significant headstart ….

I got the impression that all reproduction in Vissian society required a cogenitor.

 

Maybe the male Vissians cannot get it up with a female. So he needs the cogenitor to make him get it up before mating. The third gender has the biochemicals in it's biology to make him aroused.

 

What if the third gender is a recent artificial introduction to limit the expansion of the species by a government of controlling dicks?

Or the three genders could be from two space faring species (with only two genders) interbreeding, again recently, whereafter their hybrid offspring, are in this challenging pickle.

 

You know, when I watched this, I assumed this was a commentary on the Taliban (because the Suliban existed) and the horrific treatment of women in Afghanistan. The fact that I have seen people defending Archer's actions makes me wonder if I misread this because I can't imagine the writers actually would have thought the Taliban's enslavement of women was correct.
