2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil

As Robbie Savage said, the technology worked fine, but showing both results just confused and angered the Honduran fans. Just show the result that matters.

@ SPCTRE
Apparently you´re confident for 2014. You think 1990 was just a slip from the 20-year rhythm? :)
I just enjoy supporting the team and exuding a healthy sense of optimism and confidence.

I dislike people who follow football only when a World Cup rolls around as much as I dislike people following the "public opinion" of the day (which, at the moment, is being overly pessimistic despite all evidence to the contrary. People just repeat what they've heard somewhere).

So, yes, I'm optimistic that we have a chance to go really far, if not all the way.

Oh absolutely, you have to be optimistic to even enjoy a match or a championship, IMO. And looking at the results in the big tournaments of the past decade I´d say it´s about time Germany got the forth star.

I´m really looking forward to the game tonight and I´ll keep my fingers crossed for the US team, too :)

Then I'm definitely not to your liking.

My wife used to be a big fan of Bayern Munich but recently found it boring, that Bayern Munich just has enough cash to buy the best football players and therefore, somewhat inevitably, can't lose any more.

For me its sheer delight to see the talents of Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben play (and score) for their national teams (France and The Netherlands). Adds a healthy dose of competition.

So while the Bundesliga got to stale for my liking, I really look forward to see how how the national team is doing tonight without the likes of Ribéry and Robben.

In simpler language: The World Cup promises to be more interesting than a game where Bayern Munich is involved, because the outcome is less certain. That's why I prefer World Cup over Bundesliga. ;)

I wholeheartedly agree :techman::techman:

Players play for one club this year, another one next year and in a completely different country the year after that - for whoever pays more or offers other benefits. At least there is some consistency in the national teams (obviously) and I enjoy very much seeing also "lesser" (no offense!) teams compete - sometimes with unexpected results. Such as Greece, who won the European Championships in 2004, or just this weekend Costa Rica beating Uruguay.

And I find it amazing, how 11 guys on that lawn can unite an entire country.

SCHLAAAAAAND!

Ahem.. sorry ;):p

Really looking forward to Germany stomping on Portugal's pretty boy

Provided he doesn't stomp all over our team. ;)

I learnt today that the prediction monkey from one of our TV stations who has also been 100% correct so far predicted a win for Germany. So, I suppose, combined with the camel prediction, it'll be a tie?
Apparently, Germany will be the first team tonight to play its 100th World Cup match. Would be nice if it wasn't a defeat. I'll be watching on the so-called fan mile with thousands of others. It'll be a patriotism overkill for sure.

Germany's looking good so far. 2-0 already.

Yeesh, I don't know what it's like on your broadcasts in Europe, but here in the US I have to deal with ESPN, and the commentators freak out whenever Ronaldo gets anywhere near the ball, even if he doesn't actually touch it. The rest of the team might as well not exist.

Every time I look away Germany scores a goal, and now a red card for Portugal. This match isn't going well for Piefke haters. ;)

Glad I'm still at work and don't have to watch it with some crowd.

eta: ahahaha, just saw the replay - stupidest red card ever?
