Me to in the 80's I have 50-60 novels stored away from that time. Have you ever, or have tried to if not, write a Doctor Who novel?
The closest I've come to writing Doctor Who was when I learned that KRAD had edited a DW anthology and said I'd be interested in contributing if he edited another. Which he hasn't.
Anyone who tries to write for Doctor who is a brave soul in my book
I'd be interested in a Christopher take on DW.

I'm not sure about these new companions, they seem a bit young and I fear that Clara's stories might get short-shrift with three new companions.
^ And as usual, the companion gets dolled up in period-wear, while the Doctor doesn't bother at all.
Maybe its just a human thing? I know if I had a big room containing just about every outfit in known space, I'd be playing dress up every chance I got.
As for the doc, didn't Ten adress this with Martha way back in the Shakespeare episode? Something along the lines of: Just walk around a place acting like you belong there and you'll be fine.
The First Doctor was arguably the most known for dressing up in period costume (or at least acessorizing) depending on which historical period they were in; oddly enough he never really dressed in futuristic stuff when they landed in those times. Eleven is probably next on the list, going for a fully-period version of his costume on more than one occasion. And hats.
Our new Doctor has kept to his usual costume so far, only really changing the color of his shirt, much like the Ninth Doctor did. I'd guess that they purposefully do this at the start to fully ingrain the new guy and his trademark look into our consciousness; if Peter Capaldi wants to change things up, I'm sure they'll let him do so in future seasons.

The Fourth Doctor occasionally adopted contemporary attire, most notably his Sherlock Holmes-style getup in "The Talons of Weng-Chiang."
Baker's Doctor wore a kilt briefly in "Terror of the Zygons", and then had the gall to tease the Brigadier for also wearing one (despite the UNIT commander having the right of lineage).

Are you sure he wore a kilt? I do remember the scene in which he first meets the Brig and then bugs him about the latter's attire, but I'm pretty sure the Doctor himself never wore the accoutrement. He DID however put on a locally-sourced hat and tartan scarf for a while.
