Looking at Amazon I see there is a series of YA Bloodlines novels that launched Vampire Academy, which sounds like something I should be familiar with but can't quite place. IMDB also reveals a Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines videogame. Lifetime had Blood Ties. Maybe I'm subconsciously channeling those.

Amazon Studios has picked up Chris Carter's The After as a series. The pilot was made available for viewing just over a month ago.

Rose McIver has been cast as the lead in the CW's iZombie. From Deadline:

Rose McIver, who plays Tinker Bell on Once Upon A Time, has been cast as the lead in Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero’s CW drama pilot iZombie, from Warner Bros TV. Based on the DC comic, iZombie is a supernatural crime procedural that centers on med student-turned-zombie Olivia “Liv” Moore (McIver), who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head. McIver has been recurring on Showtime’s Masters of Sex.

Ohh, conflicted. I loved Rose McIver on Power Rangers RPM, but I am so thoroughly uninterested in a show about a zombie.

Annie Thurman (The Hunger Games) is set as a series regular in TNT pilot Proof, a supernatural medical drama executive produced by Kyra Sedgwick. Written by Rob Bragin and directed by Alex Graves, Proof centers on Dr. Kathryn Russo (Jennifer Beals), a skeptical, hard-science, brilliant female surgeon with a caustic edge who has been struggling with the devastating loss of her teenage son and a growing estrangement from her surviving daughter. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings — all of it looking for verifiable proof to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond? Thurman, repped by Treadwell Entertainment, will play Sophie, the surviving daughter.

One Tree Hill alum Shantel VanSanten has signed on to CW’s ensemble drama pilot The Messengers, from writer/co-exec producer Eoghan O’Donnell and exec producer Basil Iwanyk. In it, when a mysterious object crashes down to earth, a group of seemingly unconnected strangers die from the energy pulse, but then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending Apocalypse. VanSanten, repped by Innovative Artists and Leverage Management, will play Vera, a NASA scientist.

SyFy mandate: greenlight a space opera

Syfy's new executive vp original content, Bill McGoldrick, who joined in November from corporate sibling USA following the exit of Mark Stern, has two mandates: greenlight a space opera a la Battlestar and usher the network back into the golden age of high-profile, big-budget miniseries now duplicated by so many of its competitors.

Syfy's Plan: More Space Operas, Less 'Sharknado'

Going forward, Defiance, the $100 million gamble with a video game tie-in, and recent debut Helix (from Battlestar co-creator Ron Moore) are being viewed as steps toward what Syfy wants creatively: provocative, allegory-filled science fiction, unlike Syfy's lighter, more procedural formats of current Stephen King adaptation Haven or exiting Warehouse 13.

I'm not actually pleased to hear that. I like the lighter, more fun stuff like Eureka and Warehouse 13 more than the pretentiously dark stuff like Galactica and Defiance. W13 has managed to have very powerful and dramatic moments without having to be grim and brutal all the time.

I was just about to post this dammit. However, my hopes arent very high.

Watching season 1 of Spacehunter and Osiris chronicles has me itching for tv space opera now.
