The Best of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Back on SNL I didn't mind Jimmy Fallon, though it did piss me off that he constantly broke character and laughed at himself. Unprofessional.

I tried the first few episodes of his late night show and found it completely unfunny. But I just watched the two hour best of special, looking forward to the cream of the crop of the past several years of his show...!

Still not funny :wtf:

Does anyone like this show? There were like five laughs over two hours. It was predominantly him getting to sing alongside other celebrities and laugh at himself, which I'm sure is very entertaining to him, but why would it be to anyone else?

I can't believe this guy is the new Tonight Show host :wtf:

Never liked Jimmy Fallon either, particularly -as mentioned- how he often "broke character" to laugh at himself/the skit. I mean hasn't he been at practice all week to get that out of his system?! Ugh, never found him funny in the least.

It still feels like a college kid with a talk show. His casual style with the guests who he's always calling "pal" and stepping over their conversations is annoying. Playing charades and beer pong with his guests grows old quick. On the up side, he's had some amazing musical guests and performances.

I believe he's doing the show from NYC so it will be interesting having both him and Dave being there.

I find him amusing-he's honest in his approach. He looks like he is having fun doing his thing-and that he really cares.

I love Conan, his monologues aren't the best, but I think his interviews are much better than Fallon's... And for me, Conan's 'remotes' are the best stuff in all of late night by a large margin.

Even though I have no love whatsoever for Leno... I don't get why they'd dump him for Fallon. I don't see Fallon/Meyers outperforming Leno/Fallon. Are we headed to a future where Jimmy Kimmel is the king of late night? I never would have considered that a possibility 10 years ago

I don't mind Fallon, and I kind of like the whole laughing during a skit; of course I grew up watching the Carol Burnett Show, where they broke character all the time. Even if you think Fallon sucks, he's still better than Leno. Craig Ferguson is still my favorite.

This! Every couple of months I get a bit tired of his whole 'I know this show sucks' shtik but when I come back I love the show all over again. (And of course Geoff Peterson is the best co-host in all of late night!)

Craig Ferguson is a hoot! It makes me wish he would have been chosen as Leno's successor. There's something very relatable about him.

I saw Leno in person in March, and it was a fun experience. But the best part was seeing Dennis Rodman trip and fall as he came out. They had to refilm his entrance.

Could it be the fact that he's a huge Doctor Who fan and routinely has alumni on from the show ;) I fell in love with him the second he corrected himself by saying "There is no Doctor Who! He's the Doctor."

First thing that popped into my head. I laughed at Tim Conway because he consistently lost his shit. When the rest of the cast went, I was probably rolling on the floor.

Fallon's okay, but his casual style aims for a young demographic, and that annoys some viewers, which is probably the same reason a lot of people hated Conan when he was new.

Ferguson is more my speed. I get the jokes and references, and enjoy that it's a no budget show that springs almost entirely from one guy and his sense of humor.

Craig Ferguson is the best and his show does suck, but it's just so much more fun.

He had the flu tonight and keeps blowing his nose. Feels like even if he doesn't know the guest that much he still makes them feel welcomed.

Plus it's the only place on earth where a gay robot skeleton and a not a real horse will ever be seen on late night.

Plus the new thing with the most shy band in late night is fun.

Love Craig, love Conan, love Jimmy. Can't wait to see what Jimmy does with The Tonight Show.

Dunno. I don't pay attention much to Dr Who, I'm afraid. As a talk show host though, I think he's great.

NBC appears to be promoting Fallon on "Tonight" as a throwback to the very vesatile Johnny Carson. In fact, I think it is a good way to go because Fallon is more closely related to Carson than Leno, Letterman, Conan, Ferguson, or any of the rest. Say what you will about him, Fallon has shown he can do characters, sing, dance, do a bit of stand up (not really his forte, IMO), very similar to Carson, who did all of the aforementioned and did killer stand up. His interviews, from what I have seen, vary in quality depending on the guest. His interview of Eddie Murphy was the best Murphy interview I had ever seen, same with some of the ones with Timberlake (not talking about the history of rap stuff, here).

I think Fallon has a chance of being the most successful Tonight show host since Carson. Lord knows following Leno, its likely not to be that hard.

Jimmy is young, he's tech savvy, he has a sweet and fun persona about him, and he's very open-minded. I think he'll do a great job, and yes, he could end up having a legacy like Carson.

Yes, I think Fallon can have a legacy like Carson.

We're talking about Carson Daly right?
