Freddie Mercury will rise from the grave to provide the music for series 8.
And he will be accompanied by Jim Morrison and Elvis Presley.

I also immediately thought of Piven. I'm not sure how I'd feel about an American Doctor, but were it in the cards, Piven would be in my top ten for the role. The Digital Spy people were saying that it was a non-British actor best known for a sitcom but who had appeared in a period drama.
Jeremy Piven? Sitcom, Ellen. (Or, arguably, Entourage.) Period drama, Mr. Selfridge. He'd certainly be different.![]()
Well the BBC has a list of people who might be the new Doctor.
Looking through the list, the only one who actually excites me is Andrew Scott, although O'Dowd could be fun, would be interesting to have a Doctor with a non English accent.
Chiwetel Ejiofor is still my favorite for it, but an "unknown" is always an exciting option. No preconceptions, nothing to distract the audience from seeing whoever it is as The Doctor and just The Doctor.

I looked at that list and wondered if we couldn't discount every last one of them given the BBC have published it.
It's something along the lines of "I have a big announcement this weekend and it involves the UK and phone booths."Ill bet his whole twitter comment is "yay, now i watched the show!"
