For those of you who may want an older Doctor, how about Scottish comedian and late, late talk show host, Craig Ferguson. He's about 50 (maybe 51) and is a HUGE Whovian. He certainly fits the "quirky" mold.
A bit too familiar a personality at this point, and he pretty much just plays himself. On top of that he would have to give up his talk show. A good thought though. He certainly wouldn't be my last choice.
Nope, you can't have him, he's staying right where he is as Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin on Once Upon A Time
What? Robert Carlyle is in the Fables knockoff? How the mighty have fallen. Let's hope Doctor Who saves him from that dire fate!
Can someone please change the title to this thread. It's disturbingly misleading. But what should we change the header to?
I'm glad it's not just me, everyime I see it in the all forums list my heart skips a beat until I remember!
Craig Ferguson may be a familiar face in the US, but in the UK, where it counts, I doubt he even registers. When I think of Craig Ferguson, all I can remember is him playing Confidence in Red Dwarf.
Before his current role on Once Upon A Time, I couldn't see it, but, seeing what he's done with Rumplestiltskin, I could totally see him as a Doctor now (Not that I would expect anything Rumplestiltskin-like from his portrayal of the Doctor, but, the few roles of his I saw previously just didn't point to him being at all appropriate for The Doctor. Seeing him as Rumple in OUAT is a total departure from what I typically see of him)
^I haven't seen Rumplestiltskin, but I've imagined in the past that a Carlyle Doctor would be sort of a mix of Eccleston and Tennant. Though now that he's a bit older, maybe there'd be a dash of Troughton in there too.
