Perhaps you'd be kind enough to give that story a rest for a bit?
Didn't know anyone was keeping score. I'm gone.

I'm sure the powers that be at Paramount would disagree with your assessment.
Then you would be wrong.
The movie's not doing the domestic business they might have hoped, but it's doing fine and there will be a sequel.
Since the film is going to turn a healthy profit - for the studio, the term "very pleased" is definitely applicable.I'm sure the powers that be at Paramount would disagree with your assessment.

So, given your insight, would they say (to coin a phrase) "we're all very pleased"?
Since "Star Trek Into Darkness" is making money, that means Prime Trek stays dead. Which means, more Bad Robot Trek will be made.
I don't have a problem with that.![]()

Box Office Mojo hasn't updated for a while, but the folks in the forums over at boxoffice.com are figuring this is currently at about 210 million international gross.
You mean it's the biggest-money Star Trek film ever?? THE FRANCHISE IS DOOMED!!!

The numbers are unreliable from the period, but STTMP made $430 million adjusted. STID needs $27 million to tie that:
STTMP: $430 milliom
STID: $413 million (unoffical)
ST09: $408 million
It should end up with at least $480-490 million and has a decent shot at going over $500 million.Something tells me it'll do that and more![]()
I'm sure the powers that be at Paramount would disagree with your assessment. While not a bomb, given a budget increase of over 26 percent and a massive marketing push, Paramount must surely be disappointed when examining their return on investment. Sure, they'll make "another one" but, unlike this one, they'll probably be far less generous with their purse-strings.
Was that when (IIRC) ST09 went back into the IMAX theaters (when there was a opening)? I know I saw it a few more times in IMAX after it's run in the cheap theaters, but I couldn't remember if it was in the month of September.Box Office Mojo hasn't updated for a while, but the folks in the forums over at boxoffice.com are figuring this is currently at about 210 million international gross.
So assuming this is true (and it seems likely), $203 million domestic $210 million international= $413 million surpassing the inflation adjusted WW gross of ST09 in just 5 weeks (ST09 played till Sept).
