Judging from the scenes I've seen in teasers, that is one lethally operative word for that movie
I'm sure it'll open big. 80% rating/99% wanna see it in RT. sigh.
With the movie probably hitting 200 million US around this weekend, and the likelihood of it getting at least 200 mil from overseas markets, I'd say this movie will probably end up somewhere comfortably in the mid 400 million range. Not a bad result.
I don't think it can get to 500 mil now, sadly. But it may happen. It's been doing very well in China and Korea. They may just push us over the line.

Apparently Paramount is projecting $260 million International and $230 million domestic, for a total of $490 million. $15 million short of my prediction.

Well, it only has to hit 408 million global (and everyone agrees it will) to sail past the inflation-adjusted ST-TMP and the inflation-adjusted ST09 to become the highest grossing Star Trek movie of all time.
This will be a convenient honor to have, because using words like "disaster", "disappointment", and "failure" to describe the highest grossing Star Trek movie of all time is more than a bit hilarious.
It's also a nice reminder that America is no longer the center of the universe. So three cheers to China, Australia, South Korea, and others for giving us the highest grossing Star Trek movie of all time!

I think Paramount have over estimated like they did with the opening US weekend. $440-450 seems more likely.
I noticed the movie 'Snow White and the Huntsman' had a budget of $170m and made $155m in NA and $240m OS for a total of $395m Worldwide.
The sequel is due in 2015.
So there will absolutely be another Trek movie. I think it would make more worldwide if it came out in either March, April or November instead of Summer.
