I'm not much of a PC gamer, so I'm pretty happy with my score of 30/50. Quite a few were blind guesses though.

    35. Not bad as I lapse in and out of PC gaming and missed a lot of classics.

    22/28. Many I guessed on if I couldn't out-right tell or infer.

Believe it or not, I didn't know a lot of these (mostly the CGA-era ones.)

The Red Baron one was a bit of a cheat because the original version was EGA, not VGA, and they used a VGA screenshot, so it made me second guess (but I still got it.)

The Wing Commander one was also unfair. Like you could tell the difference between a WC1 and WC2 screenshot.

I also sucked at the sports ones. Like I know shit about sports games.

    Anyway, I got 38/50. If this were a school test, I'd have a C. :(

I saw Wing Commander and just clicked it before noticing there was more than one in the choices. :)

I guess that was to weed out the posers lol, like Doom showing the stat screen instead of gameplay.

I got 34, although several I was able to narrow down to two, but picked the wrong one. I was surprised at how many seemingly obscure titles they put in there (and I was able to remember!)

I could tell the difference! :D The ship that's in front of you in that screenshot is only in WC2, not WC1.

Yeah, I agree that the Wing Commander screenshots were unfair. There were trivial details in them, but really hard to tell the difference seeing as they both used the same engine. It's one of those things you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at a screenshot, but by playing the game.

Plus, Strike Commander, I guess we know what games the test maker enjoyed. :)

I actually never played Strike Commander so I missed that one. It looked like Generic Air Combat Sim #287 to me. :(

37 out of 50, some of them lucky guesses, a few of them genuine blasts of nostalgia from days gone by. :)

Well, to be fair, a lot of them are very obscure, like the sports games for example. Unless you've played them, you'd not even be able to recognize what they are since all sports games by their nature are very similar up to a point.

the only one to throw me off was the football one, when my grandmother got a computer with a CD-ROM drive (which was a HUGE thing back then) the computer came with about 20 cd's that had shareware and free versions of just about ever DOS game ever

    A lowly 26.

And I only played about a dozen of them. The rest I got right either through guesswork or general familiarity with the game's appearance. Nice to see Stunts featured; I played the heck out of that game. Had an eensy-weensy crush on Cherry Chassis, too. :adore:

The game had some fantastic features too: the very flexible track maker/editor, the multiple camera angles, the race replay feature. Plus, some neat cars; the Countach rocked!
