Do we have stats yet?

AFAIK the going theory is still that the Ambassador will be a science mirror of the tactical Excelsior while the Galaxy is a pure engineering cruiser.

It is possible that Cryptic will release a better version with better hull/turnrate/shields/speed/universal stations/consoles and different flavors for tactical/science/operations, but then it would break away from it's niche.
The Odyssey is supposed to be the versatile cruiser (as the Vesta is the science flagship and the escort flagship spot is still vacant) in game while more exotic configurations go to lockbox ships.
I'd rather see another T3 fleet version of the Ambassador than a C-Store version.

Cruiser line:

Pure Cruiser - Galaxy Class
Weak flavor tactical cruiser - Sovereign (Galaxy Dreadnaught)
Weak flavor science cruiser - Starcruiser
Strong flavor tactical cruiser - Excelsior
Strong flavor science cruiser - Ambassador
Versatile tactical cruiser - Regent
Versatile science cruiser - ...
Versatile cruiser - Odyssey

It will be interesting to see which ship will fill the sister role to the Regent with a universal LC station and a science flavor in console slots.

Come to think of it, they might actually release a 25th century refit of the Ambassador to fit the versatile science cruiser role.

The Ambassador class is here?! Woohoo! Great day to play STO! I just won a Wells time ship, too! Seriously, I bought a key just for fun, unlocked one of my boxes and *bam*. A guy offered me 38 million right off the bat, but I wanted it for myself, and so the U.S.S. Sagan is now part of my rolling stock.

The SotG Dev article says Thursday 1/31/13. <--- That's when the mission voiced with Denise Crosby as part of the cast, will be added to the game, and any Fed character that completes it between that date and 2/14/13 will get a free Ambassador Class ship (KDF characters get the new Cryptic designed Battlecruiser they posted about recently.)

They reported that the problem is fixed earlier today. So there shouldn't be any further launcher issues.

The Ambassador is here at last, for free! All you need to do is play a new featured episode. Which probably means stat-wise, its going to be a crappy ship for end-game but I don't care. My "Ships bearing the name Enterprise" set is going to be complete!

Is the Ambassador going to be VADM only, or can lower-ranking toons get this ship too?

There is a new devblog, that explains this a bit.
You get 2 versions of the ship for doing one FE mission.
One will be T3 and once will be Admiral level.
If you are below Admiral you get a box that can only be opened once leveled up.

Same goes for the new Klingon cruiser.

According to the latest dev blog, we'll get 2 Ambassador ships, a tier 3 Ambassador and a tier 5 Ambassador Retrofit.

Looks like we get both a T3 and a T5 ship. In addition, from the dev blog it looks like the T3 version is a permanent mission - it only says the T5 version is anniversary-only.

Too bad the klink ship is a new design. I was really looking forward to getting a giant BoP.

I'll take a look. The launcher on both my desktop and laptop were non-functional the last time I checked.

It was never going to be a science ship. it is a cruiser. But the LC science station will give it much needed support capabilities.
I am surprised how tactical oriented it still is though. 2 low level tac stations plus 3 tac consoles to boost damage.

I would have preferred if they went full support and switched tac and sci consoles and made the ensign station universal.

The C-Store version will probably come with a universal ensign and a 4,3,3 console setup + special ability console.

The turn rate is a joke compared to the Klingon cruiser.
Does it turn as well as the Excelsior with a base turn of 7?
