80s music is probably my favourite, OMD, Ultravox and the like. But I have music from all of those eras on my PC so It's not quite so black and white

2010s music, actually. I'm serious. But since that's not an option, I'll go with the '80s.

I can listen to the '80s or Today anytime. I have to be in the mood for '60s/'70s or '90s/'00s music. Otherwise, no.

I did not include the 2010s as the decade is not over yet. Unfair to judge the music of an entire decade when there is still 7 more years left.

For me, it was definitely the 80s (or at least most of it). The New Romantic movement, Brit-funk, Rap--quite a lot of new sounds came to the forefront during that time, IMO.

I'm somwhat eclectoc with my tastes in music. All decades have some great somgs, some good songs, some ok songs, some not so good songs, some bad songs and some dire songs.

I downloaded some of the "top hits of the xx's" collections a few years ago and then deleted all the songs that I didn't like. By far the biggest collection after all my pruning was the 80's. Of course an element of that for the 90's and 2000's was that I can't stand much rap (so "funky name #1 feat. funky name #2" is an almost certain delete), and rap came to make up more and more of the top hits in the later years.

ETA: I also like music from the 30's and 40's, but the prize of my collection is the Ethel Merman Disco Album, which I inflict on friends as possibly the worst music ever recorded.

Edited to add a sample song.

Play it and see how fast you jab knitting needles in your ears. I'm betting 40 seconds or less.
