Iron Man 3 Discussion/Photos/ETC.

To be fair, more people tended to wear their beards like this in ancient China, rather than the Fu Manchu thing we're more used to. Most historical epic films from Asia usually have this look versus the arrangement the Mandarin is usually associated with.

Even if that weren't the case, IM1 made the point that the Ten Rings organization was a collection of nationalities that covered most of Genghis Kahn's empire, which means that this Mandarin could have a mix of Arabic, Russo, and Sino roots.

I do have to say, the fact that the armor is operating without him wearing a control harness does seemingly support the idea that he's done some sub-dermal work. :p

I love that trailer, I'm so excited for this now. My two favourite shots were Tony and Pepper being interrupted in bed by the suit, and the last shot of Tony dragging his armour through the snow.

I grabbed these two off the trailer for a closer look.

This is a different tattoo(I think) then what we saw for members of "The Ten Rings". Significance of this anyone? I don't recall it from the comics but someone else might.

I'm wondering if Mandarin is going to be able to hack Tony's remote control of the armor and that's why we are seeing the armor itself attacking Tony?

With the exception of the badly miscast Mandarin the trailer looks great. Much better than the one for IM2.

There was a story line from the 90's where Tony's armour gains sentience and begins making decisions for itself even who to target. We see in the trailer Tony mentioning that he can't sleep and that he has a new headset interface, so I'm guessing this is a homage to that story line. He also suffers a heart attack in that story IIRC. I'm assuming this is where he will go to Maya Hensen and ask for her help in developing the Extremis technology. Just my own guess though. As for the symbol tattoo on the back of his neck, it doesn't ring any bells...it could be his own personal clan symbol (that's just a guess). I'd need to see it blown up to really be able to tell.

No. Iron Patriot is Rhodey's new designation. I think Sammy posted the link to this a few pages ago IIRC. Guy Pearce plays Aldrich Killian who is the creator of the Extremis Virus along with Rebecca Hall's Dr. Maya Hansen.

Why does the mandarin have Caps shield with the Avengers A in the center tattooed on the back of his neck?

Sort of what I was thinking, the storyline where the suit gains sentience and essential turns Tony into an abused spouse. At the end of that storyline the suit sacrifices itself to save Tony during his heart-attack by ripping out its own Arc-Reactor.

I have to say, that trailer was awesome. The Mandarin's accent seems a bit 'off', but that's not a big-enough issue to turn me off from seeing the film. I do wish we would've gotten more glimpses of him, but that's really neither here nor there.

One interesting thing about the trailer for me is that, although we know that Tony will be part of The Avengers 2, the trailer very much conveyed this feeling that IM3 could very well be Tony's 'last stand', which I think is neat and a great way to 'hook' people into seeing the film.

Or "Die Hard" or Die Hard 2"

All Shane Black related movies.

Nope, Lethal Weapon was but not Die Hard. They were both produced by Joel Silver and featured some of the same supporting cast and had similar tone. Black did write The Last Boy Scout, which featured Bruce Willis playing a character much like John McClane (and it's set at Xmas) but Black had no involvement in any of the DH movies.
