We constantly have Abrams and his cohorts in interviews going on "this movie is so awesome and epic and game changing and mind blowing and amazing. But we're not telling you anymore." If I remember right, the first big trailer for Star Trek XI came out with James Bond Quantum of Solace around October 2008. This was already well after the movie was pushed back from Dec 08 to May 09.
So, if they follow a similar time frame this time you'd think we'd get a trailer Oct or Nov.

I don't understand that myself. I mean, isn't it more fun to just sit in the cinema, having no clue as to what the F is going to happen, except for things we saw from the trailer, which will be released soon enough?

I'm sure you're right. While I'm confident that the film will be a lot of fun, I suspect it won't be nearly as entertaining as watching fans losing their sh!t here over not being adequately spoon-fed and catered to by JJ & crew.
