This is the poll for your favorite decade.

You can base your vote on personal experiences or what you have seen on television and movies and read about from books/magazines and online.

my favorite decade was the '90s
I lived from age 6 to 15, and I really had no responsibilities other than homework and chores, TV and nintendo :D

That’s tough. Depending on criteria I would choose a number of different decades. Aesthetically (and based purely on Western trends) I would choose the 1920s -- though of course that’s not a choice in your poll. For personal experience I’m torn between the 80s and 90s, which include some fond memories of childhood, and the oughts, which include some fond memories of young adulthood -- though both were also fraught with personal trauma and tragedy too. I do have a sense of nostalgia for the 80s and 90s. Politically the 90s were okay. Scientifically, I feel like all those decades were awesome, but I lean toward the 60s because there was a lot of what I perceive as, well, rather romantic science happening. Musically they all had their ups and downs, and I can think of a lot of bands, songs, pieces, and genres I love and hate from each decade. I am the worst person ever at making up my mind.

I went with the 60s, the one I was born in. It's gotta be my favorite, cuz without it, I'm nothing. ;)

Coincidentally (or was it?) also the one Star Trek was born in.

If this were a pop music poll, I'd be going with the 80s by a sliver.

The 80s. It was the time I spent in high school and college. If only I had known just how easy I had it back then.

Not easy do I go for the decade I was born in the 70's or the decade I would say I grew up in the 80's.

I have to vote for the 90's. I was born in 1984, so I don't remember much of the 80's. The 90's hold my happiest memories, for certain.

Although I grew up in the 80s I would also have to say my favorite decade is now mainly due to the all the great technology we have now. I love MMOs and spend quite a bit of time online browsing the internet as well as watch most of my shows and movies online. I can't imagine being without this anymore! The 80s were fun but def love this decade.

Definitely the 1960s for me. Like CorporalCaptain, I was born in the Sixties, and while I don't really remember all that much from then, I have fallen in love with the look of the decade - certainly I've spent enough money and time collecting books and magazines on the architecture and design of the period, and I love the music and movies and television from then as well. While there is a lot of things that I like from succeeding decades, nothing resonates with me as much the the Sixties do.

Yeah, ALL of that. I love the internet, the MMO's, the music, technology getting so much cheaper, more accessible and more everyday. Of course I love other decades of music but I tire of hearing the same stuff for years so lovely as the 80's are I spent more time listening to Gaga and K-Pop. I've also loved recent tv, standards of quality shows are now pretty high.

The 1990s. I was born in 1980, and as awesome as that decade was, all of my best memories are in the 90s.

Hmmm. I'd have to do some thinking about it. One-by-one...

1960s - Before I was born. Nice styles, interesting shows, some interesting movies, not my type of music but not bad. Gutted by social inequality and violent social turbulence. Breaking away from rigid, outdated mores made you a "rebel". Sorry, but no. I'll stick watching vintage material or Mad Men for my fix.

1970s - I didn't really live through this decade either. Being born in 1979 doesn't count. It does no good if I can't remember it. Better music, better movies, so-so shows, and styles that are all over the map. At least they weren't inhibited. You have to give them credit for that. Social mores start to become like today. The good and bad cancel each other out.

1980s - Great music, good movies, terrible shows. Fashion starts off mediocre but gets keeps getting better and better throughout. The first decade I can remember. My childhood wasn't bad but I wouldn't want to be a kid again. Nice to see the Cold War ended. Thumbs up.

1990s - I'm more selective about the music, the movies mostly aren't my thing, shows are a lot better. Fashion was a mixed bag. Given how trivial all the news seemed, things were pretty good. Great for the world but less so for me. Unfortunately, I hated my teens.

2000s - The music depends on the genre, a lot of the movies were great. Good TV was really good, we won't go into the bad. Fashion improved and got sloppier at the same time. The economy wasn't that great but technology gave easier access to things than ever before. I liked my 20s.

I guess I have to go with the '00s, with the '80s as a runner-up.

I'm glad the 2010s weren't a choice. It's obviously too early to pass judgment on an entire decade when we're only a quarter of the way through but it's not too early to say that the bad economy sabotaged it from the start.

The '80s.

I was between the ages of five and fifteen during that decade and I progressed from first grade all the way to my sophomore year in high school during that time. Most of my fondest and happiest childhood and teenage memories come from the eighties.

The movies were awesome. The TV was incredible. The music kicked ass. And the video games were primitive but exciting.

Best. Decade. Ever.

This one, because this is where I live - pretty fucking miserable to think that my 'favourite' time to live was in the past.

^ Well now I feel weird about following that up by saying the 90s were my favorite, but it's true. That's when I became an adult and had the most fun, and it had great music, movies, and the technology we take for granted now was still new and exciting. Three Trek shows were on the air. The economy was doing great for most of the decade. 9/11 and two subsequent wars hadn't happened yet. The Cold War had ended and things were looking much more optimistic at the time.

That's not to say that I think the 00s and 10s are total shit, because I don't, and I still find many thing to enjoy about the present. I just had a really great time in the 90s.
