MLB Discussion - 2012 Season

The Red Sox DFA'd Lillibridge to make room for Carl Crawford's return (until his arm explodes). So, Cherington traded Kevin Youkilis for Zach Stewart and three weeks of fucking Brett Lillibridge. Good job, Ben.

Not that I loved the deal, but they weren't going to get anything more for Youk. Hell, the other deals on the table were "pay his whole salary, we'll take him off your hands" kind of deals.

Except there was no reason that the Red Sox had to trade him. He wasn't blocking Middlebrooks, because nothing said they had to play the same position -- it would have been simple to stash Youkilis in left, or have Middlebrooks play in right. Cherington / Lucchino had simply been dead-set on trading Youkilis for months. It was addition by subtraction, plain and simple.

^ I visited Atlanta last week and, fortunately, only one person treated me like you just did. ;)

Atlanta's used to its fair share of visiting teams' fans due to it's 30 years of suckiness. There are always Mets, Cubs, Cardinals, Phillies, Yankees, Red Sox, and other fans there. Saw a large chunk of Brewers fans earlier in the year.

Well with that and the previous hating on the tomahawk chop(hey I think it's cool! :p), the most hilarious moment I can recall was when Cub fans filled in Turner Field for game one of the 03 NLDS.

This was back when the Braves making the playoffs every year was normal and you could get tickets to this comparitively easy. There must have been as many Cub fans as Brave fans. They even all took off their Cub hats and mocked the tomahawk chop!

Though I wouldn't call 14 straight division titles "years of suckiness" by any stretch.

I also visited Miami and...I got to meet the Dinger Machine.

My heavens, it's every bit as awesome as Timby says it is.

I personally think it looks silly myself, but hey to each their own. Certainly no worse than any of the other silly eccentricities all the other parks have.

The Dinger Machine does not smile fondly upon your blasphemy. Look upon it, ye mighty, and despair.

Bright Vegas style lights that go off when the other team is winning?! Oh noes! :p

Hey, at least it's not a train!

I was bored & reading about old time players.

The last time the Cubs won a World Series, Mordecai Brown got them in.

Maybe we could dig him up & throw a uniform on him.

Couldn't hurt.

That Mets bullpen kills me every time. I was psyched after the pinch hit homer by Valdespin, thinking hey maybe they'll pick up a game on the Nats, until Parnell came in and guzzled down 10 and a half feet of meat whistle in the bottom of the 9th.

Until recently, I flip-flopped between another starter and a right handed bat as their big need at the deadline. They really need bullpen help in the worst way.

Always fun to see someone go home and light it up, like Buster Posey did last night. Hope they saved some runs for the remainder of the trip though. I would say winning both these series would be great, sweeping both would exceed expectations.

I would bet on the Giants winning again tonight just because Minor is pitching for the Braves, and he's just not any good this year. Tommorow night's Bumgarner/Hudson match up should be a good game though.

Fuck that cocky motherfucking piece of shit Melky Cabrera. When he was in Atlanta, he was a fat cocksucking fuck who couldn't run to first base without a big fucking grin and tripping over his own fucking feet that he could barely see.

He suddenly lost 50 pounds and started practicing the sport of baseball and now he's out there taunting baserunners, doing fake tosses to fans, crotch chops, coming out of the dugout when somebody threw his HR ball back, and pointing to the crowd after home runs. He needs to go die in a fucking fire.

Wow, tell us how you really feel. ;)

I didn't see any of that so I don't know, but I do like the passion.

And I also like the somewhat back to back 3 run home runs that just happened. ;)
