He is one of the key architects of post-Clod War US for foreign policy. Probably not in the administration because of the fact that he is controversial. His strategy was used and continued regardless.

I am a progressive and disguested that whoever wrote this list tries to pretend that Obama has done enough deficit spending or prevented that another financial meltdown could happen. It is simply wrong.
Anybody who is not aware of the influence of G&S upon both major parties and anybody who does not care about fixing the structural problems of corporate influence upon government is not a progressive, hell, he isn't even a democrat. He is just a dumb party soldier.

So getting hundreds of things accomplished don't count for anything? He ONLY should have focused on the deficit and NOTHING ELSE?

There are days I don't know which set of Ron Paul's beliefs are more naive and brainless. The ones about gutting the social safety net and federal government to the bone and trusting the states to take up all the slack...or the ones about it being fine and dandy for rogue regimes like the misogynist and homophobic mullahs in Iran to get a nuclear weapon because "they have the right to defend themselves from American and Israeli aggression and imperialism" and "it'd be our fault anyways."

I'd like to see Paul be so willing to shrug his frumpy, ignorant shoulders and just accept a nuclear-armed Iran if he lived in Israel or on an American military installation located in the Middle East. It's easy to live in a gullible, simplistic libertarian and isolationist dream world when you're an American Congressman who can both literally and figuratively afford to be a self-righteous old fart who doesn't seem to grasp how the modern world works. But on the plus side, he has all that money from racist groups to fall back on...so perhaps he doesn't really care either way. It's all about self-promotion and his cult following.
