Absolutely! I love an excuse to dress nicely, though plenty of people dress nicely on a regular basis and I find that classy. I absolutely love seeing elderly gentlemen walking around in a suit, maybe with a bouquet of flowers for his sweetheart. I aspire to be that cool and classy when I'm that age.
For some reason, that's my preference as well. Me and another guy pleasing a woman.
Glad to hear about the shorter commute, long work commute can really get you down after a while. And 9-5 aint too bad, that's kinda nice and what I have an ideal work day. I've worked way too much 7-4 in my life. That shit sucks. But then again, I'm not a morning person at all.
As for work anecdotes...sometimes it feels like my entire current job is a work anecdote in it self! So much stuff happens, I meet so much people and do some much different things. The life of a general handyman for hire is sure an interesting one. I hope yours in publishing will be as well

I work a lot of 6 AM shifts. I don't mind it, really. I actually like getting off work at 2:30 or 3. The only thing that sucks is when I work late one night and early the next day. Sleep? 
I do 6am-2pm , 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am.

I'm currently working 2:00pm to 2:30am 6 days a week. Try that for a bit.
I don't think anything could be as bad as my senior year at university. Monday through Friday: student teach from 7-3, tutor privately from 4-5, uni classes from 6-10, Saturday and Sunday 8-12 hour shifts at the ice cream shop. That was pretty brutal.
