Again, all the flashbacks are from 1960, why not 61,62 and early 63? We have these people returning and all the flashbacks are 3 years before they disappeared. You would think there would be more relevant flashback plot closer to the time they dissappeared and arrived in the present day. Maybe they are layering it that way and following seasons will deal with 61,62 and 63.

In prior episodes they have had flashbacks to the other years mentioned. Well, I recall at least one in 63.

The only 63 one was when they disappeared, if you at the 5 eipisodes so far all are from 1960, just seems strange

After watching last week's ep, I'm with Tom in regard to Guy's fate; did Hauser bring him into the group to work as a consultant, or what? Surely he's not in a shiny new cell?

I may make it for live commentary tonight - I'm really beginning to look forward to this show each week. Thanks to Jet for the new promo.

I finally got to see "Guy Hastings"...pretty good ep.

    About last night's Alcatraz...
But TVByTheNumbers had said this about Monday night; TV Ratings Monday: 'The Voice,' 'Smash' Weaken, Still Lead NBC Win, Hold Competition To Widespread Ratings Lows

Looks like Hauser and Lucy were more than friends back in the 1960's. I think we're just starting to see her involvement in what's going on on Alcatraz. It''s only a matter of time before she gets involved with these weird experiments in some way. I'm wondering why she and the doctor are in the present and aren't working for whoever if sending the inmates off on missions.

Paxton Petty woke up inside a crypt so he was either placed inside there by either time travel or someone just dropped him in there to make us think it was time travel.

I got this one DVRed but I'm losing my will to watch. Was there any progress on the mystery? Did it all just happen at the end again?

And the way the ratings are going, maybe at this point it's all moot...now it's below the Terra Nova season finale (2.2/6)...speaking of that, wasn't FOX supposed to announce a decision about it by now, to give them enough time to produce the next season if there's going to be one?

The flashbacks were more about Hauser and Lucy than they were the Inmate of the Week. Still nothing about how the '63s ended up in the present, or who put them there, though the IOTW did say he just went to sleep one night and then woke up suddenly in 2012. He also told Diego about Lucy's presence on Alcatraz in the '60s, but naturally the conversation was interrupted before the IOTW could elaborate further.

Thank you, my Jedi friend, maybe I'll just pop in here each week to find out whether this week's ep is worth bothering with. :D

I thought it was a fairly decent outing, though very little forward momentum was made regarding the 'bigger picture'. I'll be curious to see if Madsen now begins to wonder about Hauser's age, since she learned he was investigating the case in 1959, and he certainly doesn't look to be in his 70s.

Doc's still the best character in this show, IMO.

I'm really digging the series. I'm actually liking the procedural part of the show and unlike Lost, they actually are giving you nuggets of the mystery in each episode. Yet, just like Lost the biggest failing is that of characters not communicating and that is frustrating but not to Lost levels, yet.

So, I'm hooked. Will be a regular viewer, via DVR a day or two later until the show is cancelled.

Sorry, that was a one-time service. You have to watch the rest of the episodes if you want to learn more. :p

Meh... I'm starting to lose hope for this show. I need an improvement in the next few episodes or I am canceling my season pass.

I just need some hint that the creators know where they're going with the mystery.

The fact that this guy had no idea what happened, while everyone else has been brainwashed/convinced/guided/whatever -- even one of the prison guards -- kind of paints the picture that they don't know where they're going.

And considering that this guy was so clueless, yet went about doing what he was doing the day before he was imprisoned after somehow calculating exactly how much the government owed him... well, oy.

I am done. If I ever see a boxy robot head show up in front of a television show or movie, I'm just not going to bother with it.

Sfunny, last spring when FOX was having to choose between Alcatraz and Locke & Key, they supposedly chose the former because JJ Abrams described the plot arc and set their minds at ease that, yes, the story was going somewhere good.

I might stick with this show or at least bits and pieces just to see what a FOX exec thinks is "somewhere good." :rommie:

    Here is a thought:

It could be that Tommy is somehow 'immortal' and certain people know that and have been taken a lot of his blood. The blood is then transfused to the missing inmates and guards somehow so they don't age (think something along the lines of Clare's blood in Heroes) . The inmates and guards are being held somewhere but been kept sedated until there 'needed' . The bad guys are looking for Tommy because his blood prevents aging and they need him. Still this does not explain things like the future key and where all the inmates are being held. We know from Guy that he woke up in the infirmary before waking up in 2012.

Also the immortal blood idea would explain Lucy and the Doc, and maybe why Hauser is not as old as he should be. Also, in the last episode Lucy is brought to the Doc and Hauser says 'use your methods to fix her', maybe he gives her some of Tommy's blood they may have been keeping around.

    "use her methods". Not "your".
