2011 NFL Season - A New Game

Well, I'm rooting for the Patriots today. Yeah that means Brady will Tie Montana, but there is one thing Montana can say that Brady can't. Montana never lost a Super Bowl, while Super Bowl 42 will always be there. I just can't root for the Giants under any circumstances, just because what they did to the 49ers 2 weeks ago. Still a painful loss in what was a well played game on both sides. :(

I don't understand people who want the team that beat their team to lose the Super Bowl. I know that you're upset that your team lost, but when the team that beat you loses the Super Bowl, doesn't that make your team look even worse by comparison? Especially for anyone who thought the 49ers could have beaten the Patriots (I personally do).

If I had to lose, I'd rather lose to the champion.

Exactly.... I'm rooting for the Patriots to win so I can run around making the claim that Denver was so good this season that it took the eventual Super Bowl champs to knock them off.

It depends on how tough the loss was and how much bad blood there was before/during/after the game. Depending on the situation both rooting for or against the team that beat yours is ok imo.

There's no prize for second place. Any team that didn't win is in the same category. If the Patriot's win, commentators won't say "well, the Ravens could have won the Super Bowl had they beaten the Patriots and then the Giants, so that means they're really good too" (same with people talking about the 49ers). Every team that loses has lost. You don't win vicariously by watching the team that beat your team win.

Well, the 49ers were OT away from being there instead of the Giants. Also, I don't agree with the sentiment that if the team who beat your team loses to the Super Bowl champion, than your team looks worse. There's a lot of variables that go into any typical game and on that day, both teams played well. If the Giants lose, that doesn't take away from the good game that was played for the conference championship.

Also, Brady is local (Went to high school about 10 minutes from where I live) and I have always liked him. If there is one quarterback who I would love to see compared to Montana, it's Brady.

I do agree with Roger Wilco though that this game isn't exciting me in the least. I just got back from the Movies and I kind of wish I ended up seeing another one. I hope it's a good game on both sides, but I kind of wish we were past the Super Bowl at this point. I've ignored the hype, I'm not watching the pregame shows, and quite frankly, I'm ready for Baseball Season.

My view is simple. Tom Brady is already in the conversation with Elway and Montana. Winning or losing doesn't dramatically change things. However, no way is Eli better than Peyton and two Super Bowl wins would start that conversation and that's one I can't stand.

That being said, I suspect the Giants defense will bruise and batter Brady enough that the Giants win.

God I hope the Patriots win. I'm sick of hearing about Eli. I think I'm more sick of hearing about Eli than I was hearing about Tebow.

I'm rooting for the Patriots because I have to. I mean, it's the Giants, and it's Eli Manning. Is there anyone more hate-worthy than Eli Manning?

Dunno, I think Eli has a certain brand of grumpy charm with the whiny faces he pulls all the time.

Fine. He'll make superb grandpa some day.

For today, however, he is the most overrated slightly-above-average QB I can recall.
