Once Upon a Time (ABC) - 1x02 till the bitter end

Maybe Eion Bailey is one of the Grimm brothers. Or, the writer thing could be misleading and he's actually the hunter from the Swan Lake story (with Emma as the Swan).
Am I the only bothered by the fact that their dwarves were normal sized?

It's in line with the general approach of this show, to make basic changes to the known stories - Snow White is much more assertive, Prince Charming is actually a peasant boy and not even the original one, so why wouldn't the dwarves just be short guys?

That, and it might have been harder to find 7 dwarf-sized actors/use FX to make them Hobbit sized.

Eion Bailey's character could be the author of Henry's fairy tale book hence the typewritter.

So this episode took place while the Hansel and Gretel story took place. The scene with Snow and the Dwaves is what the Evil Queen was watching at the end of the previous episode.

Nice to see Red/Ruby in her full getup. Looking forward to her story.

if he wrote the book, then he is the physical manifestation of the curse.

kill the man, kill the curse.

It's Buffy Season 5 all over again.

Got to say this show is getting better and better each week.

Anyone know if the ratings are holding up?

So this epidsode was episode 10 and i just read they have planned for a run of 22 episodes.

Hope they can keep up with strong writing with the back 9 episodes.

You know, I'm really starting to love the music in the show. I especially love Snow White and Prince Charming's theme. I wonder who wrote it?

Love this past episode and it reinforces that Snow White and Prince Charming belong together! Not sure the Evil Queen/Mayor likes that idea based on the dirty look she gave them at the end of the episode.

I was so happy the Dove found was returned to its flock. :luvlove:

For the new stranger in town. I thought at first he might be Henry's father, but Emma mentioned he died and surely she would recognize him if it were him?? Unless he could disguise himself.

Emma admitted that the story she told Henry, and recanted, about the father being a dead fireman, was false. So we don't know if Henry's father was someone Emma loved, hated, rapist, etc.

^^ Yeah, it takes them a few days. I've run into that problem.

I'm pretty sure Henry's father will show up as an important character. This whole show is based on relationships. So the writer has to be somebody important-- in fact, somebody especially important since he was able to leave Storybrooke. It's a good bet that he's Rumpelstiltskin's kid.

He's either going to turn out to be Wall-E, Simba, Lightning McQueen, Bambi or Dumbo. :p

Going by looks, that does seem like the safest bet. But it would be too completely weird for this show. Rumpy's not a shapeshifter.

My quatloos are on Tramp, as in "Lady and." Disney doesn't really do the "roguish drifter" type very often, but Tramp fits. ;)

OUAT may be getting a companion next fall. ABC ordered Beauty and the Beast pilot. This is from ABC, based on the original fairy tale (as opposed to the CW version, also in the works, which is a remake of the series with Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman.)

...the drama project is described as is a period/fantastical reimagining of the classic fairy tale set in a mythical, dangerous world wherein a beautiful and tough Princess discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast. It is eyed as a potential companion for Once Upon A Time in the Sunday 9 PM slot. Both Once Upon A Time and Beauty And The Beast feature characters from classic Disney movies, including Snow White, Prince Charming, Belle and the Beast.
I'm wondering whether the two shows will be in the same "universe" with the possibility of character crossovers. But somehow, I don't think they'll cast Emilie de Ravin in the new series - my hunch is that they're going to go for a more ass-kicking type.

Rumpelstiltskin's son was one of my first guesses, too, but now I'm fairly certain he's the notorious Jack. The master thief, con-man, wanderer, warrior, and lady's man (come on, Jack and Jill was all about a romp on the hill) from the world of fables and faerie tales.

If I had to guess further, I bet he traded a con or theft for some kind of protection from the curse from Rumpel, with the Evil Queen being the target of that con/theft. Hence her having a vague recollection of him, possibly having chastised him for some minor thing he did in disguise during the theft.

Wild guess there, but I'm fairly sure he's Jack. If for no other reason than because Jack is such a major character to not have a presence by this point.

Oh thanks, I must have missed that bit.

LOL. I've actually been very pleased and surprised that this show has remained relatively mature with the story-telling considering Disney's ownership of the network. The show could have been handled in all kinds of wacky ways to pull in the Disney kid contingent.

I do like how they made Rumple sympathetic at times. I was always rather puzzled at the fairy tale ending of Rumpelstiltskin dying a horrible death because frankly, he didn't DO anything bad and came off as a nice helpful guy whereas the real villains of the story (The Miller Girl's braggart father, the brutal tyrannical King) got off scott-free.
