Benedict Cumberbach joins the cast

He still won't confirm if he is the villain in this interview. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1677356/benedict-cumberbatch-star-trek-2.jhtml

The actor said he's been "working out nonstop," indicating that his part in "Star Trek 2" is a very physical one.
I sense a role with firm man boobs.....
He said he just started working out, non-stop. Outside of steroidal help, isn't he six weeks late in that department. I don't know about firm man boobs but man boobs ought to be present and bouncing for duty.

Of course, the faux chest piece and a spray tan is still the next best option. It worked before. Maybe they can even make it flex it's muscles this time.:guffaw:

That's assuming he's playing Khan. He could be a Klingon or they could just be aiming to get him some definition - think James McAvoy in Wanted. Not Schwarzenegger-esque but lean, toned and very much showing the signs of a heavy gym routine.

With the right diet and programme, 6 weeks can accomplish a lot, particularly for a young guy like Cumberbatch. He doesn't have a lot of excess fat to shift, just to bulk up and get definition.

I don't know where the young Chris Pine came from in my other post. That is weird. I must have had a mental moment.

I love, love, love AR. He is my favorite actor. I think my love of AR and BC has to do with the voice, the timbre and inflection.

I also see that Cumberbatch will be playing the voice of "Smaug" the dragon in Peter Jackson's new films based on Tolkien's "The Hobbit".

That's interesting, considering that his Sherlock Holmes co-star (Martin Freeman as Dr. Watson) is playing the lead character in The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins.

^ Sherlock head honcho was for a time involved in Tintin, which Peter Jackson directed, so I'm guessing that this helped PJ become aware of these actors.

What about Cumberbatch playing one of the Picards? Maybe even Jean-Luc himself?

Because Jean-Luc was born in 2305, and these movies are taking place in the 2250s and 2260s?

In the previous timeline, sure. The 2009 film disrupted the timeline, so Jean-Luc may appear sooner than in the other timeline - if indeed he actually comes into being at all. Or, as I suggested, he could play a different Picard, such as one of Jean-Luc's predecessors.

Hey, if Pavel Chekov can be born sooner than he was in the Prime Universe...

I don't think the timeline would be disrupted enough for Picard to be born 45 years earlier. . . hell, even his parents are probably not born yet, or really small children at this time. . .

If I were the writers, I'd personally stay away from anything dealing with The Next Generation, considering that they want people not to have to know anything about Star Trek to enjoy their work. . .

I just finished watching my first episode of Sherlock. I had never seen Cumberpatch in anything before and I must say i like him a lot.

His face just screams Romulan/Vulcan to me.
Hell, I could easily see him play a very young senator Vreenak :p

It could be some guy with similar manners called Picard.

So what do you thik the odds are that we will get a familair villian for the new Trek feature, as opposed to someone completely new?
