wwe vs tnt anyone watching?

WWE is looking for feedback on some show concepts for the WWE Network. I particulary like the idea of them doing a reality show that revolves around Big Show and his wife because it sounds hilarious! Big Show is known for being a pretty funny guy without even trying, so it does sound like it could be a ratings hit.

I also like the idea of Mick Foley doing a panel show regarding the OMG! WWE Moments. It would be cool to hear how they planned these things out and what they were thinking at the time.

RE: Miz losing the title so soon - As I've said before, when a heel is involved with a feud over the WWE Championship with John Cena, it's only a matter of time before Cena wins the title. This is down to his character and the concept that good will always ultimately prevail. It's something that WWE is committed too since they've delved into family friendly programming. I do agree with their reasons for this because it's important for public figures that are idolised by younger people to provide a strong sense of morals.

As for why Miz hasn't had another title run, I can only speculate it's down to the immense popularity of CM Punk and the company's focus on pushing Alberto Del Rio. If Miz was to move to Smackdown, it's likely he'd win the World Heavyweight Championship quite quickly.

WWE is now selling Zack Ryder wigs... That's a good sign for anyone who is a fan of Ryder because the more inventive that WWE gets with a character's merchandise, the more likely it is that they are committed to pushing the character.

Maffew just posted on his Botchamania fan page on facebook that he got a BM intro from Mick Foley!! Probably will see it soon. He's kind of a Mick mark :)

sad thing about that video is I remmber that. when the wwe channel comes out I hope they put RAW on from the begining which would be awesome......

Austin is actually considered a great wrestler and had a lot of mat presence when he was Stunning Steve Austin in WCW. He showed glimpses of this ability during his WWE career as well. It wasn't until he started suffering leg and neck injuries that this was limited. Remember that Owen Hart pile drived Austin on his neck during a match and Steve broke his neck and was out for almost a year. This was a severe injury and since then he was never the same wrestler.
Yeah, tragic. But I care about the wrestling I'm actually seeing, I'm not going to go "Oh well, he had his neck done in, I'll let him off being shite".

I just finished watching disc one of Shawn Vs Bret which contains the Jim Ross sit down interview with both of them and man...this DVD is worth the price alone just to watch this interview. They cover pretty much everything. Both men get emotional at times as they talk about their early friendship, the events that led to it's deterioration and then the Montreal Screw Job. There is fresh information here that you don't get from either men's books or that hasn't been reported. Both Shawn and Bret are honest in their opinions and don't hold back. Bret tears up a couple of times and Shawn gets emotional. They even addressed Shawn's infamous "Sunny Days" comment which I was shocked about...and showed the promo. I've only seen this on youtube and Tammy's story (according to her there weren't Sunny days with Bret). Like I said everything gets covered in this story. You feel both men's pain and frustration about what happened. This DVD is a masterpiece and like I said worth getting just for this. I plan on seeing Disc two with the selection of matches later on.

@Admiral Young: I really want to see the Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart DVD, the sitdown interview with JR is more than enough to sell me! The only trouble is I don't like buying WWE DVD's because they cost an insane amount of money in the UK and often don't have much rewatch value.

I was thinking about how WWE could solve so many problems - close down WWE Films and use the budget to open a new private wresting school. Say the closure of WWE Films gives an extra $30 million revenue, WWE could set up their school calling it something like the "WWE Superstar School" and hire some of the most talented retired wrestlers in various styles to train. They could then hire teachers from renowned acting school to work in conjunction with the legends. This would ensure that the trainees had an excellent grasp of talking, selling, in-ring psychology and body language.

Once the school was setup, they could send somebody to scout colleges around the USA looking for graduating athletes who show an interest in becoming a professional wrestler. From there they are screened and WWE decides who to sign to a contract. They will spend a year solely at the school learning how to wrestle and perform the WWE way before they graduate to spending 6 months split between FCW and further seasoning at the school. From there they can be called up to the main roster...

So for closing down a money pit like WWE Films, you'll be getting some of the best conditioned athletes in the country who are still young and therefore have a long shelf life. They'll have the wrestling ability of the likes of Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle, the mic skills of someone like CM Punk, the psychology of people like Jake Roberts and The Undertaker, the selling ability of the likes of Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair and a very good understanding of how the business works.

For a $30 million investment the potential returns are incredible. Think of how much Brock Lensar and Kurt Angle (the most successful of the competitive athlete signings) made the company in just two years. Lesnar spent less than two years on the main roster and was a prime factor in Summerslam 2002, Wrestlemania 19 and No Way Out 2004 selling out.

I agree that they should shut down WWE Studios. I've read stories that it is starting to cost Vince money and he isn't getting much profit from it. I realize that he started this as another media outlet to promote his stars in film roles but making terrible B movie type films that no one is going to watch...let alone wrestling fans...is a mistake I think. A wrestling school would be interesting, but I don't really think Vince cares much about the wrestling aspect of the business any more.

Its great in theory and if you were in the WWE with me being head, I'd implement that thought right away. Problem is, Vince and his cohorts don't think like that. To them, at least nowadays, its about selling airtime for the highest bidder in advertisement money and getting their merchandizing out the warehouse more so than having a good quality product. I grew up during the late 80's era of the WWE all the way to now. It seems the heart and soul of creating wrestling entertainment is no longer there. Everyone wants another Hulk, Flair, Michaels, HHH, Rock or Austin. And they want it overnight, forgetting those legends took their time to simmer in the spotlight before getting their big breaks and matches.

That's one of the reason Cena's so despised by the older crowd because he seems like a canned product for the 12-18 demographic. And he is. WWE's management thinks like this: "hey everything's giong great as it is why not just continue what we've been doing the last 40 years?" rather than thinking how the times have changed both in media consumption and availability. Hell, nowadays match results get leaked early through script leaks and whatnot so why would people bother paying for PPV's anymore? And PPV's are still $65 nowadays?? Do they have any idea their PPV's get sent to errr ... rrent sites .. like.. overnight? Make it something like $9.99, with the ability to put the video files in your iOS or Android device and see how the PPV's get sucked up.

Another thing is, get some better fucking WRITERS on the show that won't kowtow to Linda McMahon's pissing contest on how to make the shows as bland and safe as possible for advertisers. The attitude era was great, why not bring something like that back out? Ladder, chair, table, hardcore matches, interesting feuds that last for months, no changing of titles under 3 months, lower the amount of PPV's to 6 a year to develop storylines and mature them, etc etc. Not have SuperCena win every match, give guys like Miz, Shemus, Morrison and R-Truth some big heavy pushes. That's what's gonna bring in new audience and retain them.

@Admiral M I ended up renting the DVD. I will probably get it for Christmas though. Bret calls his time in WCW "garbage" and regrets the day he signed the contract. He really wanted to stay with WWE but the circumstances in the company revolving around his relationship with Vince and Shawn didn't allow him to continue in that capacity. It is clear now that he hates the time he spent in WCW.

Like most of their talent they had in their roster they mismanaged Bret big time and had no clue what to do with him. Then it all ended on that fateful Starcade with a bad kick to the head from Goldberg. It is interesting I was watching one of his last matches which was on Monday Nitro against Kevin Nash for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and it was a pretty decent match until the run ins happened. I thought oh dear, this would have been probably a three star match if not for the fact that they wrecked the finish like this. I remember a lot of run-ins were booked as finishes in WCW. It was ridiculous.

The fact is - Bret Hart went to WCW because they offered him more money than the WWF could. He did it for financial reasons, despite being the top draw in the WWF and having a guaranteed job for life with the company. I would imagine that his relationship with Shawn Michaels negated his loyalty for the company and was the deciding factor in him jumping ship, but it all eventually came down to money.

If Bret Hart had stayed with WWF, I have no doubt that he and Steve Austin would have assembled one of the greatest feuds of all time with Hart joining McMahon's corporation and feuding with Austin throughout 1998.

ETA: In other news, Chris Jericho has announced that "he will never wrestle for WWE again" via twitter.

Yeah not disputing that money was a huge factor in his decision, Bret doesn't either, but he really did want to stay in WWE and Vince did dick him around. No one can deny that those things contributed to his decision to finally leave. Bret reveals in the DVD that he found out that he and Shawn were going to work Wrestlemania the following year (which was news to Shawn, he was genuinely surprised as he finds out for the first time during the interview) and originally Montreal was to lead up to that original match indicating that Bret was planning to resign with the comapny.

RE: Jericho...I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't some kayfabe stuff going on here.

Wow does TNA suck so bad that we all forgot last night was Turning Point? LOL. Spec piece on John Morrison going to TNA.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/937636-wwe-news-could-john-morrison-be-on-his-way-to-tna

I personally think this was inevitable especially after Malina being released, there have been theories that she will sign with TNA soon. I think Morrison has been wasted in WWE but caused through his own stupidness. If he does sign with TNA I think he would be a nice fit there...if it didn't suck even worse...

If TNA can use Morrison better than WWE (who made zero effort to push him after WWECW folded) then, more power to them.

I'm very critical of the TNA product, but one thing I will give them is that they know how to build very talented guys (and gals) who were abused or ignored in WWE.

I can't I agree with all of these (I liked some of them at the time, and I suppose I still like some of them), but this is definitely a pretty fascinating trip down memory lane. It's weird to see so much WWE history (however you might feel about it) just lined up like that.

I'm in and out of these conversations. I continue to blame my shoddy internet. I'm just gonna try and hit everything at once.

I'll believe Jericho's finished with WWE when he turns sixty. That's all I'm gonna say.

I did miss "Turning Point" last night, but I haven't heard anything particularly bad about it. Someone I know who saw it says it was a good show.

Bret's WCW run was deeply disappointing, but it did feature good matches with Flair, Benoit, Sting and a really nice U.S. feud with Page. It wasn't a complete bust (to me). It was just well, well below what it should have been. Bret walked into a company that had no interest in actually using him.

And, Ghost, I've got Austin matches against Ricky Steamboat, Mick Foley, Bret Hart, The Rock, Ric Flair, Dustin Rhodes and several others that make it absolutely impossible for me to agree with you. I think people tend to dramatically underplay the importance of a great brawler, and Austin took his injuries, pared down his repertoire and became a great brawler whose style could mesh with just about anybody.

You're entitled to your opinion. Just as I'm entitled to think your opinion is wildly inaccurate, but this is pro wrestling. I think we can agree to disagree, and just move on.

I would love to see WWE Studios get shut the hell down. I can dig on a bad movie, but Jesus, there's so many better places that money can go.

Still need to get the Bret/Shawn DVD. Hoping someone swings it my way as a Christmas present.

I'm very critical of the TNA product, but one thing I will give them is that they know how to build very talented guys (and gals) who were abused or ignored in WWE.

I wouldn't say that former WWE talent have been built well, but as for those who have had more success in TNA, I can't disagree that TNA has been more accommodating in it's creative department

Off the top of my head...

Matt Morgan (2003-2005) - midcarder in WWE/main eventer in TNA
Frankie Kazarian (2005) - lower carder in WWE/upper midcarder in TNA
Rhino (2001-2004) - upper midcarder in WWE/main eventer in TNA
Raven (2000-2002) - midcarder in WWE/main eventer in TNA
Gail Kim (2004-2005/2008-2011) - lower carder in WWE/main eventer in TNA
Jerry Lynn (2001-2002) - lower midcarder in WWE/upper midcarder in TNA
Christian (1998-2005/2011-present) - upper midcarder and irregular main eventer in WWE/continuous main eventer in TNA
Jeff Jarrett (1994-1996/1998-2000) - upper midcarder in WWE/continuous main eventer in TNA
Mr Anderson (2005-2008) - upper midcarder in WWE/main eventer in TNA
D'Angelo Dinero (2006-2008) - lower midcarder in WWE/upper midcarder in TNA
Tara (2001-2008) - midcarder in WWE/main eventer in TNA
Winter (2007-2010) - lower midcarder in WWE/upper midcarder in TNA

Bully Ray (1999-2005) - upper midcarder in WWE/main eventer in TNA
Brother D'Von (1999-2005) - upper midcarder in WWE/main eventer in TNA
Konnan (1992) - lower midcarder in WWE/upper midcarder in TNA

OTOH though...

MVP (2004) - midcarder in TNA/upper midcarder in WWE
Umaga (2005) - midcarder in TNA/irregular main eventer in WWE
Scott Steiner (2006-2009/2011-present) - upper midcarder in TNA/irregular main eventer in WWE
Booker T (2007-2009) - upper midcarder in TNA/irregular main eventer in WWE
CM Punk (2003-2004) - midcarder in TNA/main eventer in WWE
Kevin Nash (2004-2010) - upper midcarder in TNA/main eventer in WWE

Mr. Anderson was on his way to main event status in WWE until the steriod thing and his injuries wrecked his chance. The reason why he's having so much success in TNA is because they basically tweaked his character and turned him into their version of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

I can't say I've ever been a fan of Ken Anderson, he's a great worker and can put on excellent matches with many different wrestlers but it just doesn't feel right when he's working the main event. That might be down to his character and the fact that WWE latched onto his mic ability and pushed him fast, but he just doesn't fit the picture of a champion - not yet anyway.

He screwed up his first run in WWE by making outlandish statements to the press (such as coming up with strange excuses about the Signature Pharmacy scandal, etc). He was also injury prone in WWE and whenever he was gaining momentum, he went out with an injury. This isn't his fault as injuries are commonplace in pro-wrestling, but if a worker regulary suffers injuries then the WWE are going to label them and be hesitant to plan anything long term around them.

It's been said that Anderson's final straw in WWE came when he very nearly injured Randy Orton's shoulder in a tag team match. Orton was said to be fuming afterwards as he had only just returned from being out with a shoulder injury. It's also been said that Orton and John Cena went to management to complain about this and it acted as a catalyst for Anderson being released.
