After noticing... what? Something in the photo of Spock giving a Vulcan salute? Something else? After noticing this,
Would you care to elaborate a little as to why you're not surprised by... whatever it is? And why now? You haven't really provided us with much of a basis for discussion, thus far.
New York Magazine article said:For one thing, he’s willing to unambiguously talk about his sexual orientation. His eight-month role in Angels was both “the most challenging thing I’ve ever done as an actor and the most rewarding” he says. Having to inhabit that terrible lost world, if only in his mind, took a toll. “And at the same time, as a gay man, it made me feel like there’s still so much work to be done, and there’s still so many things that need to be looked at and addressed.”
In honesty, unless you're a person that can seperate the character from the actor, what's the big deal when actors come out? You never see them "coming out" as hetero? I doesn't see the point and why fans worry about this stuff.
On the other hand, something like this could have been considered a career-wrecker only a generation ago. Reading the article in my second link above, I noted that Quinto—in asking whether he could record the interview—seemed to consider his new willingness to discuss his sexuality in the press as a kind of personal milestone reached, but at the same time I didn't get the impression that he considered the fact terribly newsworthy in itself nor that he thought it likely that his career would suffer as a result.as soon as I heard about this "story," I knew there'd be threads on it here.
Someday stuff like this won't even be news, but that day hasn't come yet.

Yep, for once I'm glad I didn't get the "joke" the first time around.horrifically outdated stereotypes. oh dear
That's right. His salute is notably "limp wristed." It has bothered me ever since I first saw the film.
How are people just finding out about this? I'm pretty sure I knew about it back when he was still on Heroes.
