10 new episodes of Arrested Development coming before the movie

I'll believe it when I see it on the air... but if it happens that is the GREATEST NEWS EVER!!!

that would be amazing if true, but im one of those people who doesn't think the movie will actually happen.

I've seen a bunch of random posts on Facebook about this today as well. Pretty exciting if true.

I'm super excited, but at the same time super concerned about ruining the legacy. I guess I should just have faith they won't screw it up...

This is the point where I usually wake up and weep for a good half hour, but for some reason that's not happening.

And world peace will happen before any of this BS does.

Do people honestly believe any of this shit? They have been lying... I mean promising a movie for 5 years, so now they will promise 9-10 more episodes. Why not just promise a trilogy of movies and 100 more episodes? Never will happen either.

Definitely a top 5 comedy show for me, including the third season (which many people seem to thin is subpar, I'm just not one of them). I'm with Geck about being concerned about the legacy. While I wasn't happy it was cancelled, that was a long time ago and I worry about them recapturing the magic.

Also the idea of this short "season" being made up of episodes that mostly focus on one character seems to miss the excellent ensemble aspect of the show for me. And of course, there's always the fear of them not being able to pull off a 90 minute film. The show had a fast pace and a definite rhythm, and while I'm certain it's possible to do that in a film, I am doubtful.

All that said, I hope for the best and no matter how it turns out, it can't affect my love for the original show.

I didn't read anywhere that it was one episode for one character, just that it would show what happened to them in the past five years.

Well, to each their own. My opinion is that it was the most brilliant comedy to come out of the US in a very long time.

And this thread was quite the surprise this morning considering my girlfriend and I just started re-watching the series last night. If it happens, I'll be happy. Assuming it isn't a complete let down, failing to recapture its "magic".

I don't want to be "that guy", but just let this show be. AD was a great show for the three years it was on. When it was canceled in 2006, they were able to wrap up all the loose ends and plotlines to a satisfying conclusion. I don't know what a continuation could add without it feeling like a cash grab (although considering the extremely cult-like level this show is at, I am dubious how much of a cash grab it could be).
