I found a pretty nice copy of Strange Wine at a thrift store the other day. I snatched it up and smiled all the way home.

That was my introduction to his work. Still one of my favorite collections.

FWIW, Mr. Ellison won this year's Nebula for short fiction (well, technically he tied with another writer and both received awards) for his story "How Interesting: A Tiny Man."

However, it is better and far wiser to withhold judgment in such matters unless one is well-informed on the facts and the law. 1) The book The Essential Harlan Ellison - a career-spanning collection of some of his best stories and essays. Will send you looking for more.

2) The DVD of the documentary Dreams With Sharp Teeth - a very interesting look at the man that I find myself re-watching about two or three times a year.

No but he doesn't deserve any respect either. "Repent, Harlequin" is my favorite Ellison story but come on. All the similarities to "In Time" are superficial. Maybe the Jack London estate can sue Ellison for stealing the idea of an evil corporation.
