I guess we would just have to wait and see, Quinto also mentions something about Pon Farr, I never thought it would work in a movie.
I also don’t think Uhura is ignorant and doesn’t know what Pon Farr is,however the girl knew what she was getting into when they started the relationship.

It's inevitable that obstacles will be placed in the way of their romance and Spock's childhood betrothal is a perfect, established, way to do that. I don't expect that Pon Farr will get much more than a name check - too much baggage to fit into a small timescale.

Don't break up Spockhura!!

My guess, from an interview with Zoe Saldana ages ago, is that the base of the trouble will be that any Spock/Uhura babies will only be genetically 1/4 Vulcan and Spock feels obliged to help rebuild Vulcan civilization.

A bf. Star Trek always lacked a gay character. Why not Kirk? That would be the best option. Simply turn his love interest into a guy, and done.
