Coulson: Agent of SHIELD - TV series?

limited? NO! he should have a full ongoing series!

Phil Coulson: Agent of SHIELD! co-starring Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury and Maria Hill!

It worries me that the only other TV I remember Clark Gregg from is The New Adventures of Old Christine.

I'd love a Coulson TV show.. he became my hero after putting Tony Stark in his place in Iron Man 2 and i'd love to see his dry wit on a regular basis.

Espionage, drama and the occasional superhero appearance all wrapped with some good, dry one liners.. perfect recipe for a good show.

It would be risky. You would need a team of writers that was both good at procedural drama and superhero/comics and that would be tough to put together. It would be basically X-files meets Comic book guy. Even then it may be so weird, the public wouldn't get into it.

That being said they should go for it. Marvel needs to show DC that they can do TV as well as films.

^Procedural-meets-superheroes is already being done with the Powers TV pilot. And I imagine the AKA Jessica Jones TV series they're developing (based on the Alias comic, whose title they couldn't use on TV for obvious reasons) would be similar. Heck, given how ubiquitous procedurals are these days, it's surprising we haven't already had a superhero procedural. (Would it be too much of a stretch to put The Middleman in that category? I think so.)

I'd settle for Coulson in the proposed "Nick Fury: Agent of Shield" film as a supporting character. Plus I think a budget for a high octane superhero spy series would be potentially through the roof.

Odd maybe, but Agent Coulson has been my favorite part of the shared Marvel movie universe thus far.

I was very happy when he appeared on that Avengers poster with Fury, Widdow, & Hill.

Clark Gregg nailed it from the word go when he said... "We're working on the name."

My only fear is that since Joss Whedon is writing/directing Avengers, that he'll open his bag of tricks and pull out the "let's kill the fan favorite character to tug at the audience heart strings".

If it were just Joss Whedon callin' the shots, that would be a legitamate concern. But for The Avengers, he still has to answer to Marvel. And goin' by Jon Favreau's complaints about all the things Marvel wanted in IM2, I'd say they would keep Whedon on a pretty tight leash.

That's why I want Marvel to be clear on how much they value Coulson. I will feel that he is safe if Marvel gives him his own miniseries or TV show. If Marvel doesn't value him then they would probably let Whedon kill him or worse make him evil for no good reason (another staple of Joss) or a closet lesbian

As Gregg said in the interview, he's playing Coulson in the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. Maybe that's not "his own" show in the sense of being built around him, but the fact that he's a major regular or recurring character -- along with the fact that his role gets bigger in each successive Marvel Cinematic Universe movie and he even gets a heroic pose on the Avengers poster -- makes it pretty clear that they understand the character's value.

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

I would love to see a SHIELD based show lead by Coulson. He's been alot of fun in the movies, and I would not be against seeing him on a weekly basis.

I've liked him every since he was so calm and collected while Pepper was freaking out in the first Iron Man. It just radiated "just another day at the office."
