^Nice.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

I never liked Spider-Man as part of the Avengers. I think, like Batman, he works best on his own.

Agreed. In the comics, the Avengers have become the JLA---the all-stars. This is why Spider-Man and Wolverine have joined, and I'm astonished that they haven't added Punisher yet. To me, the Avengers has a core---Cap, Thor, Iron Man, and a few folks without their own books, such as Wasp, Pym, Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Hawkeye. There's a long-standing tradition of having the occasional short stint by a "WTF? character", such as Mantis or Hellcat or Rage, but to have Spidey and Wolverine (and for a long time, Sentry! ugh.) just hang around in the team year after year is very silly to me. And now The Thing has joined---but he's still in the FF, too! How would a hero find time to be in two teams at once---or two teams plus a solo career, as with Spidey and Wolverine? It's over-exposure---they're going to well over and over, and coming back with mud, instead of water.

far as i'm concerned, the Avengers should be Earth's Mightiest Heroes and sorry, wolverine and spidey ain't.

cap, thor, IM, pym, wasp, quicksilver, vision, scarlet witch, hawkeye and hercules should be the Avengers.

Spider-Man has been acknowledged by both Tony Stark and Steve Rogers continually as "the best of us" so while Peter is not necessarily "mighty" the elite heroes of the Marvel Universe respect him big time and consider him one of them.

Frank Castle is not Avengers material. As much as I'm a Punisher fan he just would not work well on the team. As much as he respects and admires Steve Rogers, Rogers despises Castle and would probably disapprove any recommendation for him to join. Hell Steve barely tolerates Logan being on the team.

@Python Trek not sure if you're actually reading Future Foundation or not but Jonathon Hickman has stated that Spider-Man's membership in the FF is a temporary one. He's a member just to help stabilize things after Johnny's death (meaning the first couple of arcs) then he'll be leaving the team. Plus he has a long history with the FF and during Brand New Day they basically made Peter an honorary family member.

How come nobody has ever asked Cyclops to join the team, part-time?

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Probably due to Scott running Utopia full time now. He's got enough to do...especially with the coming Schism.

In a panel at SDCC Kevin Friege had some tidbits about Hulk in the forthcoming The Avengers for next May.

He’ll be about the same size he was in “The Incredible Hulk” [which was about 9 feet tall] or maybe a little bit smaller. His muscles won’t be quite as cut. We figure he’s been the Hulk now for a few years and [his physique is changing]. He’s not as cut or as ripped as he was in “The Incredible Hulk.” The most important thing is that face. As you can already see in that concept painting, it is — more than any Hulk that’s ever been done in live action — a Hulk that let’s you see the actor in there. You will be able to see Ruffalo in there. .... So we did a few designs that put Ruffalo into it, and we immediately saw how much more you feel for the creature. When you keep that connection going between Banner and the Hulk and you have characters around him trying to reach Banner inside — “Bruce, calm down,” and all of that classic Hulk stuff — it means more if you see the same actor throughout.

That would make sense based on the character art poster we saw. I'm seriously really looking forward to this movie. Just to see Whedon's dialogue for all the characters.

Iron Man: Pop culture reference.
Thor: Snobby Pop culture reference.
Cap: Confused pop culture reference.
Hulk: HULK POP CULTURE REFERENCE!
Hawkeye: Pop culture reference.

Then Black Widow will come in and beat them all up at once with relative ease.

:p

Iron Man- I've always wanted to fight a dragon

Then Black Widow and Maria Hill kiss

I hope Black Widow doesn't pull a River VS Reaver's and save the Avengers

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

So glad they're not using the Hulk design from the last movie. He was just too lean and cut, and didn't look right at all. I thought the bigger, bulkier Ang Lee version was a bit closer to the ideal Hulk.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

I'd pay to see Scarlett Johannson kiss Cobie Smulders.

You forgot the phrase "I get that."

Seriously, I love Joss and his tv work, but the phrase "I get that." Is spoken at least once in every episode of Buffy's sixth season, which I am currently going through via netflix right now.

What I think we can (and I hope) expect from Joss, is subverting some genre cliches.

This is all good news. I think nine feet tall turned out to be marginally too much. The Hulk needs to be able to interact convincingly in a scene with other characters and with set eklements. Can't have people straining their necks too much, etc.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

My favorite scene with the Hulk in either movie is with Betty at the cave. I was actually sitting on pins and needles hoping he wasn't going to crunch her.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

I actually really enjoy "The Incredible Hulk" and have seen it multiple times and was one of the fans really disappointed that Marvel couldn't come to terms with Ed Norton. I'm sure Mark Ruffalo will do a great job and I'm intrigued to see his take on the character but Norton and Tyler kind of made the movie for me.
