worst sci-fi TV series of post 1964

Season 2 of Space 1999 for all of the idiotc changes made by Fred Freiberger (who also ruined season 3 of Star Trek TOS).

Believe me, I don't think very highly of Fred Freiberger at all. He certainly as a reputation as a 'show-killer'. Certain portions of Season 3 of TOS is proof positive of that.

Nevertheless, despite the changes made to Season 2 of Space:1999, the second season was just as entertaining as the first. If the explanations for the changes had been made in the second season premiere, then maybe fans and other viewers wouldn't have been in such an uproar.

People complaining that Hollywood should stop remaking movies is a time-worn concept and nothing new.

Heck, Miller's Crossing (1990) is effectively a reimagining of "The Glass Key" (1942).

No doubt.

The Maltese Falcon is another excellent example.

microwave oven > toaster

:guffaw:

Incidentally, where did the slang of "toaster" for Cylons originate?

Apologies if I made you think about Galactica 1980 in the process!

No harm done.
You're forgetting ...... Edit and Multi-Quote buttons are your friends so please make use of them ;)

OMG!! Galactica 1980 . :barf:I had forgotten about that dog!! Family hour timeslot restrictions. Lessons for the kids. The kid who played cousin Oliver during the last year of the Brady Bunch was Dr. Zee in the pilot episode before being recast. :barf:Robert Reed in one episode. Wolfman Jack in another. :ack: Flying motorcycles. The only one worth watching was "The Return of Starbuck."

Oh, another remake thingy.

Expo, your opinion on King Kong (in 25 words or less).

Here it is, straight-up.

The original 1933 film was fine the way it was.

The 1976 remake(despite its interesting cast that consisted of Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange, Jack O'Halloran, Ed Lauter, Rene Auberjonois, and Charles Grodin)should never have been made.

Same goes for Peter Jackson's 2005 remake.

Aaaaaaand there we have it.

Advances in technique, whether fx, acting, camerawork sound, or a dozen different things... amount to naught.

the '33 film is fine. But the others offer a fresh take on the same idea, looking at it in different lights. Nothing wrong with that.

You asked a straightforward question. I gave you straightforward answer.

I don't beat around the bush. I cut through the shit and get to the heart of the matter. Direct, honest, and to the point. I speak my mind. I'm not going to lie in my responses.

And yes, I can be quite blunt in both my views and answers, too.

The late Ron Soble(Wyatt Earp from Spectre Of The Gun)summed it up best, when he served as SAG Vice-President. In his own words, he'd been known to be "argumentative, outspoken, and occasionally confrontational."

That goes with the territory of being passionate, let alone fighting, for what you believe in.

If people don't like my opinions and views(and some don't), then so be it. I'm not in the business of popularity. I have no use for it.

I still say there should be 12 remakes of (Insert bad SF film) to see what weird, wonderful movies you could come up with.

Just like Harryhausen's 1981 film Clash of the Titans was a waste of celluloid, time, money and artistic effort, I assume.

Let's get back to talking about the worst sci-fi TV series, and see if we can leave some of this anger behind. :techman:
