I was racking my brain trying to remember where I'd seen Brendan Hines, the actor who played the young novelist. Eventually I gave up and checked IMDb, and couldn't believe I'd forgotten he was Tyler on The Middleman, one of my favorite shows of recent years. He was also Andy Goode on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

I clocked him the instant he showed up. God I miss The Middleman.

On a slightly more upbeat note, It was great to finally end an episode with Beckett and Castle having a moment that isn't rudely interrupted. That schtick was getting old.

That's basically my process too, except without the caffeine. I always try to get ahead of the game, but I always end up putting it off.

Who is it on this show that has the Medium connection? This isn't the first time the script has had little references to that show. This time, the bar was "Scanlon's" - which I might have dismissed as coincidence if the mom's last name hadn't been Dinovi.

Last time something like this happened, they had Castle reference the "Recapitator" case in passing, which was undeniably a Medium reference.

When Beckett travels to L.A. against orders, with Castle, to solve the murder of her ex-partner, Castle questions her motives. Meanwhile, they get to meet the actors who will be portraying Esposito and Ryan in the film adaptation of Castle's first novel 'Heat Wave'.

Oh, and the opposite-side-of-the-suite bedroom door scene reminded me too much of Moonlighting. Mattie and David's office doors were on opposite sides of the reception area, and much of their "will thy or won't they?" bantering involved running back and forth.

Actually, I think it was a hotel bathrobe. It was a luxury hotel so it would have been of high quality.
