From Kryptonsite:

A meteor shower hits the small town of Smallville; twelve years later, a young man named Clark Kent saves the life of Lex Luthor, and both of their lives are changed forever.

Should be an interesting series, we get to see a chapter of the Man of Steel's life never before seen, well at least without that Superboy bullshit and nonsense. The series claims it's going to do this with no flights and no tights but I wonder how long it will stick to that principle? Cast looks interesting, Welling looks like a good fit for a Clark Kent/Superman. But Lana as Asian dark-haired chick? I dunno, Lana is supposed to be a lusty, hot, red-head! And the guy playing Lex, I don't know either he looks too friendly.

And who the heck is this blond girl? Who is SHE supposed to be?

Anyway, should be an interesting series!

-----------------------------

Smallville is re-airing the pilot tomorrow night in the usual timeslot before the last crop of episodes begin airing next week.

AND why would anybody name their son Whitney? You know, I think I remember the original thread to this back in the day.

I'm not sure the series will have enough material to sustain it for long and it's on the WB for crying out loud, who watches THAT channel? I say by the time Clark is out of highschool he'll become Superman and the series will be very different and it'll run out of steam Six seasons, tops.

I wonder what the episodes will consist of? Just teenagers being teenagers, hanging out and having fun? I mean we can't put Clark through the Superman rouge gallery this soon in his life so what will be the "villain" of the series considering Lex is a friend, who I presume will "turn" at some point. What's going to sustain the episodes?

I predict the meteor rocks will play a big role from week to week. Maybe we'll see a tornado too, being Kansas and all.

As an aside:

I think it'd be fun if when we do the discussing during the episode we try to stick with the concept that we've never seen it before while, maybe, also being a touch "meta." (Sort of like how we've been posting so far.) But, talk however you wish of course.

:)

Smallville 90210 if you ask me. The WB channel sucks at least we get Star Trek on UPN not this teen bullshit. I give it 10 episodes max!

Nah, you're being too generous. I predict it'll be gone in four.

Well, at least there's a central mystery afoot - how Clark and Lex turned against each other, since they seem to start out as friends. Enterprise, OTOH - what's the big question? The Federation forms, duh. And Clark becomes Superman. What else? The Temporal Cold War? More like the Temporal Crap War.

More Than A "Remember Him" - Eric Johnson Looks Back On Smallville

Is it true that you had originally auditioned for other characters?

Yeah! The first character I actually went in on - believe it or not - I sent tape in of me doing Lex Luthor. [laughs] And then they said no, and then they wanted to see me read for Clark Kent. And I was like "ummm, you know I'm blond, and I'd need to go to the gym, like, 24 hours a day for months." But David Nutter was really kind. I had auditioned for him for other shows before, and I think that's where that familiarity was. He had always been really generous to me, and put me in front of really good people, and so when they asked "would you read for this other part of Whitney," I said absolutely. It seemed like a really good fit, and I was just thrilled to be a part of it.

That would have been a different show if Eric had been Lex or Clark.

I liked Eric Johnson on Supernatural...but I hated him on Smallville.

[edit] I think he would have been better suited for Pete Ross...I really didn't like Sam Jones III.

I hope the show doesn't shamelessly plug Nissans or Toyotas or Doublemint gum.

Or big pick-up farm trucks.

:p

I must admit, the concept of this show does seem dubious at best. I have to agree it probably won't last long, perhaps a half-season at best.
