No Ordinary Family: Season 1 on ABC - Discussion & Spoilers

but they'll be sold as hatchet bodyguards to billionaires across the globe.

Psychopaths with super powers can't do much better than psychopaths with machine guns if they're both just tools held by the leash of some Howard Hughes wannabe.

Plane crash?

A roller coaster could have done the same job surely?

Sex would have had the same effect too.

I knew a guy who used to do nitrous mid coitus.

Steph had to run and get Xena because she's so fast, but every one else was a step behind her when she missedh er target, even Collins who wandered off to kill Chicklis. Fuck!

Forgive me but wasn't Autumn knocked up at the most three weeks earlier?

Did I miss some point where they said 4 months later?

What the fuck happened to Steph's time drive? it wore off because it was a temp power?

CONVENIENT!

JJ's teacher is murdered an it takes Jimbo how many HOURS (was it over night?) to figure out that there's a correlation between... FUCK! Dirt bag is using his kid like a mule and the Commish still calls him "Mr Litchfield". MR? Litchfelds actions were on par with a paedophile in the manner he was using JJ's brain to do evil, and he should have been called the cad words like asshole or fucktard.

the same with "Doctor king".

And then over Kings corpse: THEY HUG IT OUT!

"I love you" - "No I love you" - " no I love you... What's that smell?"

FUCK!

I have seen enough of the story, and don't need any more.

Is that your way of saying you just didn't like the show and are tired of it, or you feel it was sufficiently resolved?

The pregnancy didn't last long.

Yeah in some ways, it's as if they were trying wrap things up, by the final episode. The pregnancy being a good example of that. But then they left this George/Lucy Lawless storyline hanging. Not sure why they tried to do both.

And what's that? The Incredibles meets Heroes?
The show was already The Incredibles meets Heroes from day 1. I'm talking about having a better defined direction. That final scene would have worked a lot better at the end of the pilot than at the end of finale.

And yeah, that cliffhanger cost them a DVD sale. :scream:

Keep in mind that their episode order was cut, so we have that to thank for this incredible smash up of plotlines. Cover as much as you can, and have a happy ending (should a 2nd season not materialize).

I guess that wasn't clear. I feel there is enough of a resolution. What happens next is standard super hero fare being run by the government.

I've read that before.

I might agree if not for what happened to George. What powers did he get? Or did he get none? It's an unanswered question that I would like to see answered.

And I kind of would like to see this family's interaction with the NSA.

ETA: Incidentally there is no wrong or right answer to my question, I was just honestly curious about what you thought and why you thought it. I'd like to see it continue and you're okay with it ending. No biggie.

Sadly, in the final minutes of the final episode, it finally became the show it should have been all along.

Kind of my thoughts exactly when watching the final scene. I think most kind of expected an Incredibles type show, which I guess is what Season 2 would have been like.

For my money I think George would get invisibility. It seems like a lot of the supers got powers directed to their personalities or to feelings they had. Jim always felt powerless and he got super strength, Steph always felt like she wasn't fast enough to get everything done she wanted to do and she got super-speed, JJ had learning issues and got a super brain, etc...

I think George may have been suffering from a bit of feeling invisible kind of as the sidekick.

Giving powers to criminals they can't control makes no sense to me. Wouldn't there be better alternatives? Of course, throughout the course of the series they also just let them run around free.

Why on Earth did they cancel this show? It is the show that Heroes wishes it could have been. What a waste of a fantastic story. They really had me going with Dr. King in this last episode. You know, because he's the dad on 7th Heaven I had trouble seeing him as a bad guy and expected a face/heel turn.

Well it's not canceled yet, but....

Ratings for the pilot: 10.69 million
Ratings for 2nd to last episode: 3.52 million

Also, Chiklis and Benz already signed to new pilots.

Which makes the cliffhanger ending all the more annoying.

Yep, this pretty much confirms my "audiences have ADD" assumption. God forbid a show take some time building to a certain direction.

The funny thing is that I'm nearly positive these are the same people who'll turn around and bitch and moan if a show does ignore a build up and just jump face-first into a premise.

It's just amazing to me.

Ending wasnt that frustrating, not as bad as The Sarah Connor Chronicles finale.
Agreed. I wanted to throw things at the TV over the SCC finale. I liked the NOF finale. They did what they could with what they had. Seeing that we got only one season, it has room to grow in the imagination.

And I like the idea that George has invisibility. That works for me for the same reasons. :techman:
