Where are my friends?!

I am so bored right now.

Do you ever have those times when all you want to do is go out with some friends, but for some reason or another nobody is available?

All I wanted to do last night was go out for a drink. There was a time in my life when all I had to do was suggest the possibility of alcohol and all my friends would be lining up to partake. Nowadays, it seems getting people to do anything is like pulling teeth. It's frustrating as hell.

You can trade with me. I see friends all the time, but it's for baby showers, wedding showers, engagements, etc.

What bothers me about it, really, is that we've all grown up and have "adult" jobs where we work M-F and have weekends off. I figured we would use those weekends to spend time together, but apparently not.

I think it's just part of "growing up." ;)

Here's how my wife and I spent last Saturday: We woke up at 7 a.m., did a deep cleaning of the kitchen and all the appliances (and the kitchen sink growled "Zuul" at me at one point), then we did our tax returns, then we did some grocery shopping, then we went over to my mother-in-law's house where I cooked dinner for her and my wife's grandparents, and then we came home and watched 3:10 to Yuma. We were in bed before 10 p.m.

And I'm 26.

Well, at least you have someone to accompany you in your mundane domestic activities. I don't need to go out and get drunk and party. I just want someone to spend time with me!

Maybe I'm crazy, but to me, friendships are a priority.

I am half-tempted to go out and crash a college party. I live about 2 blocks from my old campus. I could easily be the creepy old guy.

You're not old enough to be a creepy old guy. I could pull it off awesomely, though. :mallory:

Then the two of you need to go together. RJ will be the creepy old guy, and his presence as such will assuage your feelings of being the oldest guy in the room. :ouch:

About the time (dinner-time here!) you posted this I was in a contest of sorts with a friend; I was like: "come here, I have beer and bitters" and she was like: "nah, I don't wanna go outdoors, you come here -I have fried fish and wine". Then I was like: "yeah, but I've got the better shows on my hard disk and I don't want to go outdoors either"...

Generally we were both so bored from doing absolutely nothing since we got up till now that we didn't feel like changing that :rommie:

There are lots of outdoor parties going on today. I could just wander around campus doing beer bongs and keg stands until I make some new friends.

Because people don't give a fuck about friendships, more so if they are younger. They will make plans with you 1-2 a year when they are lonely or bored and have an hour or so to kill.

That's all well and good for some of my friends that live farther away. But the friends I'm talking about literally live on the other side of town, and I know for a fact that they have nothing better going on.

I seem to have hit middle-age at twenty-five, and that's proven to be awfully damn annoying. For the most part I'm happy to have a bottle of whiskey and some movies to watch. Adventures into the deranged unknown seem to take a lot more out of me than they did when I was eighteen, nineteen.

Yep. Though, I may have been born old, I'm not certain. I do have this horrible feeling that 25 was middle age for me as well.
