I'm not a Simpsons fan; is that guy in the poster supposed to be a character from the show, or just some random Simpsonian caricature?

Josh Beckett got knocked upside the head by a flying baseball during batting practice today.

FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU--

Hopefully he is fine.

Between last year and now this, they should just lock the whole team in cold storage in between games, to reduce the risk of injury. Its getting ridiculous.

Anyone remember Luis Salazar? He's a Braves minor league manager now and was struck in the face by a Brian McCann line drive during a spring training game, and doctors couldn't save his left eye so they had to remove it. :(

Poor Salazar. He's being released soon and plans to manage this year, though. Good for him. I'm sure McCann is torn up about this. He left the game to go to the hospital with Salazar.

Damn, that's awful. :(

Mets release Oliver Perez and eat his $12 million salary. Of course anyone who gives Perez $36 million deserves what they get.

Is it time to start the MLB Discussion for the Regular season and Playoffs yet? The season starts in less than 2 weeks and we're not really in offseason mode any more.

WTF? The Mets still owe Bobby Bonilla $30 million. He last played in 2001 with the Cardinals!!!

The Mets cut Bonilla in 2000 and still owed him $5.9 million. Looking for financial flexibility for that season, they worked out a delayed payment and interest plan, which works out to $1.193 million per year from 2011 to 2035! All because he deferred $5.9 million!!!!

If I were a Mets fan that would be fucking awful!

...But since I'm not that's almost the funniest thing I've read all day! What kind of dumbass would make that deal?

^The kind of dumbass that lost hundreds of millions in the Madoff scheme.

Fuck that team, I'm done with them, and it feels good. I think I'm leaning towards rooting for the Twins this year. No idea why, just seems like a nice team to root for.

I'll sell my rooting interests to the highest bidder this year! I'm a free agent.

Anyway, I am happy they dumped Castillo and Perez, but it's going to take a while for Alderson and company to get out of the mess from Minaya years, especially having to eat that $18M this year.

I've always felt the same about the Twins. Don't know why, but I just kind of like them.

Doesn't mean I won't be cheering against 'em when they play the Jays on April 1st, though. ;)
