How many people here are on a REAL first name basis?

I have to say, though I haven't been here long, I have been quite impressed with everyone here. Even though I have participated in some heated discussions, for the most part, people are cordial even in disagreement. Those who turn assholes are usually either modded or ignored.

Also, the way some people in here talk with others leads me to think they must know each other on a much more personnel level. So I'm curious who here knows each other beyond simply this board.

Seriously, I don't think I've ever met someone from the BBS IRL, but I do interact with a few people on Facebook, Twitter, and the like.

I'd say I'm on a first name basis with 5 or 6 people. I've actually typed that instead once or twice and had to go back and edit it. I don't hang out with people here all the time or anything, but I've talked to them enough times that it's as easy thinking of them by their real name.

In all seriousness, though, this was my original username. I had to go back to it, because no matter what username I chose, everyone just attached the previous username and made it a very long mess.
Plus, I waxed nostalgic and missed my old original username.

I only go by usernames though personally I have no issue with someone using my real name (Mark) but I found most people don't like there real names not to be used online or you just get in the habit of using online names. Personally I consider Jax a second name almost because it or a variation of it (Carnor Jax) has been my online alias since 2004 though I didn't use it on this board till 2007. (NX_01 Mark was my old BBS name).

When I used to be in this online gaming clan called Imperial Clones or -|IC|- (we were formed originally for SWBF hence the name) and spoke almost daily with each other over Ventrilo voice chat and even met up in person for yearly meet ups - We still called each other by our online names and not real names because it was just a habit for us...

It was quite funny us lot playing Paintballing one day with some other stangers and shouting our online names to each other like Shadow, Samaro or Easy and people going wait what did they just call him

Actually I know a number of members off the board. And to be honest, I have trouble keeping the real names and their usernames straight. I will sometimes forget that I am posting with someone I just got through speaking with elsewhere. I have also accidentally used real names in a post here and had to quickly go back and edit the post.


And J. Allen... papa don't play that. I always know who you are.

I think a lot of us probably know each other's first names but don't use them, perhaps. There are probably a lot of people that know mine, but still call me Kestra/Kes.

The few people's first names I've know here I've quickly forgotten. No one has ever asked me my name and since I've been teacake online since '98 that's as much as my name as any other.

I know the first names of several people here (not counting the one who have their real names in their user names), but it's easier to just refer to each other by our screen names.

There are a couple of people I used to chat with several years ago, and now I'm their friend on Facebook so I know more about their life than the average poster. When I first signed up it was because my boyfriend at the time was already a member here, so technically he was a poster I knew in real life. I haven't really been on a first name basis with anyone else for a while now, even though I've been a member for almost 7 years. I think I've used my real name here a couple of times but I doubt anyone remembers it.
